Default No power issue

Hi all,
I am having a very bad issue. I was at a friends house and forgot to close my door all they way which drained the battery. I went ahead and bought a brand new battery as the one i originally had was old and was dead due to the door light being on. After I installed the new battery i went and turned the switch to turn the car on and it made a click then lost all power. I then tried using a portable small jumper to start the car and still no power. After i disconnected the battery for 5 mins and reconnected the power and lights came back but when i tried to start again i lost all power again. I then bought another battery thinking the other one might be weak or dead and I am still having the same issue. The main issue I am having is when i try to crank the car on it makes a click then loses all power until i disconnect and reconnect battery again and it does this over and over. I am wondering if any of your inputs could help solve this issue. This is on a 99 Lexus gs400.

Thanks

Are you terminals in good shape? Free of corrosion and tighten down good? If you have corrosion inside the cables or inside where the terminals actually touch the battery posts, or anything that came apart while changing out the battery, you won't have a good connection for power to flow. Make sure the grounds are connected and in good shape at the body and engine. Follow the cables as best you can looking for damage, corrosion, disconnections, etc.

I changed the terminals today and sanded them a bit to make the metals shiny and get rid of any corrosion. I did jump the car today from another car but when I goto turn my heat or headlights on the car starts to lose power until i give it gas constantly. I did get the alternator checked and its reading 13.6 which is considered a pass from AutoZone. My doubts and suspicion is on the alternator. Any idea if this is the real cause and issue?

It really sounds to me like a bad connection at the battery, one of your primary grounds, or some issue in your wiring harness.
