Hi Club Lexus forum.
I bought a GS300 about 1 week ago privately, its been running good so far until today.
Its a 98 GS300 with only 158,000 kms on it (like 98,000 miles?)
Today I started it up to go out and it just stalled on me while I was reversing off my driveway, I tried starting again and it still stalled. I tried one more time, then gave it about 2 mins to warmup and it was good, I thought it was just an issue running it cold or something.
About 4 hours later, I try starting it to go out again, it does but then idles rough then just stalls. I have tried about 10 other times now and it just doesn't even start.
The fuel pump has been replaced only 2 months ago, it is cranking so I assume no battery issue.
I am in Australia so the mechanics are pretty expensive here and I'm a student, hopefully it is something that can be fixed easily, what can I do?
Cheers guys.

Welcome -
Did the Check Engine Light come on?
A few different parts could cause what you are experiencing, like the Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor or unit itself, etc. If the car tripped the light, it'll provide a good clue on where to start diagnosing.
In addition, this place is a heck of a resource... hit the search button and you might find someone that had a similar issue. Pro-tip: You can search just the 2nd Gen GS forums, keeping the results on-point for your GS. You can find it under "advanced search"
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
I called a mobile mechanic, and it seems that something with the fuel is broken, the guy directly added fuel somewhere in the engine bay and it started up, apparently it has a problem starting on hills (my driveway is steep).
Does anyone have ideas why the fuel is a problem? I am thinking it may be crappy/contaminated fuel, because I have no idea what the previous owner filled. In Australia the minimum octane is 91 or E10 so that may be why.
