Default Recommended multimeter and battery measurement

Go Alipress.com for HT206d clamp meter, I get for $27, Amazon might double the price. HT206d has AC/DC current clamp, and MIN/MAX.
1)clamp battery positive wire to measure DC current, set to MAX, then start engine to measure starting current, read the value before turn off. I get 350A on 08 Odyssey. 05 GS300 TBD.
2)use probes to measure DC voltage, set to MIN, start engine then read the value. >=9.6V means battery is really good, 9V is acceptable. My 08 Odyssey has random failure so I measured it, second time restart I got 7.4Vwhich means battery is very weak.
3)when car is started, voltage across battery shall be 13.5-14.5V or else alternator bad; when car is not started in the morning battery voltage would be 12.4V or above, or else I suggest you use external charger to charge it at the wkend.

If you have Fluke multimeter, its MIN/MAX can be used in 2) also, 2) is the best method to check battery status at home!
