get the 400

cheaper
lower miles
and E-Shift
plus I like the older tails (when cleared) better anyway
unless you fork out for JP tail lights

although...
black on black is my favorite combination

Default Prices in Vancouver

The prices in Vancouver seem higher, but they are not as bad as it seems some of you guys think.

1 US Dollar = 1.31880 Canadian Dollar

The $41,000 price is in CAD. 41,000/1.31880 = $31,088 USD. That would actually be a fair price in most areas in the US if the car is in excellent condition.

Th GS430 at $49,000 CAD would be about $37,155 USD. I would probably opt for the 2000 GS400 and throw the $6K into mods like the others have suggested.

I actually did some reasearch today and found that out. The thing that I also found out is that there is a 15% tax that you pay.

A bunch of my friends had GS400s and loved them. I have a GS430 and don't care for it. I drove the one fo the GS400s and found that it had quicker throttle response and what seemed like better steering. The GS430 has drive by wire and althought that should equate to quicker throttle response, it doesn't seem to. Also most people I know with isssues on their GSs have 2002 and 2003 GS430s -so I would think that "maybe" quality has gone done.

Wow, I'm surprised. So driving a GS400 is more invigorating and fun than a GS430?

What are the "issues" people have been having? Isn't it only logical that a car becomes "better" year after year?

Best thing to do is drive them back to back. Like I said, I found the GS400 to seem "snappier". I have had to have a strut replaced and the tubes for my sunroof drain continue to fall down (causing terrible wind noise in the car at highway speeds). My steering is also overboosted and others with 2003s complain of the same thing. Lexus might have made a change in 2003 to soften the steering - who knows. I also have a terrible engine tick that needs to be looked at .... again. The 2000 GS400 seems to be the sweet spot out there IMHO.
