Hey folks, owner of an '03 GS300 (Sport Design) with some sound issues I'm having a hard time diagnosing.
Car still has the stock amp and stock head unit, and everything with the current head unit seems functional aside from not being able to adjust volume at all, as if the **** is not functional. AM/FM browsing, switching to CD/Tape, and all climate controls work just fine, just zero sound output. I don't have the necessary tools to test my amp unit, but checked wiring and harnesses and everything seems okay. Ran a test to see if my head unit would still work even if connections to my amp were removed (all connections disconnected), and head unit could still perform all of the same functions, such as switching sound settings and browsing radio, just fine. Not sure if that information has any correlation to my issue.
Another side issue is the CD changer stuck in a constant feedback loop of attempting to check for discs in the changer, whether or not the disc compartment is inserted or not. Also not sure if this is any sort of indicator.
Car was picked up from a private owner about a year ago, had been sitting in storage. Previous owner states the sound had been working fine up until close to my purchase.
Does anyone have any kind of information on this issue, whether it may be an amp issue or potential speaker short? The last available thread on this particular issue is from 2011. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming that you may have the Mark Levinson system. This to me sounds like a typical amp failure - all functions of the headunit will work however no sound. I would check the passenger side floor of the trunk where the amp is located to see if there are any signs of water ingress.
That said, the CD changer issue sounds unrelated. It would be worth taking a few minutes to break down your glovebox and unplug the changer completely.
