Insert surprised look here! 😯 Being completely ignorant on the GS series, I wondered why Lexus had so many different configurations of one series. And finding a bone stock one seems to be even more of a challenge.
I know now by what little time I have had to research, that the younger people were doing some serious mods which were never possible on the 400 and 430 series because there was no aftermarket support. Not enough sales to justify the expense. I believe that the SC430 only sold a little more that 140,000 units in its entire run of 9 years. Toyota sells more Camry's in a couple of months than the entire lifetime production run of my car.
Cool. 😁

I do have another question though about the dash clusters. I am not a fan of the iridium glow in the dark appearance. Any info on that? Good, bad, swapped? What did people do with their clusters? 🤔

Just got back from looking at a beautiful 07 GS430. Yea I know. Gen 3. But long story short, couldn't do a deal because of a P0751 code. The owner passed away recently and the mom didn't need two cars. All service records, kinda. And the son stated they had recently spent about 5k for transmission. I recommend he take it back to the shop that did the work. Five separate codes though. Beautiful car. Garage kept. Seemingly well maintained. Keep looking.

the 3rd gen may look nice but that 6 speed isn’t anywhere near as bulletproof as the 5 speed on the 2nd gen. You’ll find many reports of the GS4 with over 200k easily on original transmission. They rarely ever fail in the 2GS unless abused really bad and not maintained. I would stay far away from those years. Lexus quality went to **** in 2006

Here is a video of someone changing the lights on the gauge cluster to LED. If your good with electronics it looks easy enough.

Found a 2000 GS400 garage queen w 134k miles on "OfferUp" in Temecula, CA. Asking 12k. Looks nice.
Another black interior and silver paint. But it looks like a great car. Here's a link for anyone else who may be interested. Hope I'm not breaking a rule.

Do these touch up paints reflect the colors available for the 98-00 GS400 available paint?

Another question just popped up. A seller is claiming that their low mileage car actually has over 300k miles but due to coilovers the mileage registers incorrectly. I call BS. But it's a valid point when tire sizes are switched up that it would affect the displayed mileage on the odometer. Any opinions? Thanks.

that’s a high price but still a lot of car for the $! People with platinum edition always asking way too much and there’s nothing really special about it. It’s nice though but not 12k nice. For that price you can take a trip to NYC and buy this one:
