NOT a GS Owner - Yet

Another question just popped up. A seller is claiming that their low mileage car actually has over 300k miles but due to coilovers the mileage registers incorrectly. I call BS. But it's a valid point when tire sizes are switched up that it would affect the displayed mileage on the odometer. Any opinions? Thanks.

I'm trying. Its actually quite unbelievable how hard it is to find a decent GS anything actually. I know that I'm way late to the game but dang. I widened my search for the entire country on every Auto selling platform I could find and nada. Either it will cost more than it's worth to fix it, or the odometers are rolled back. Incredible. Keep an eye out for me will you. I know there's one sitting in a garage somewhere owned by a nice couple who used it for a grocery getter. Suspensions shot now, might need the TB and WP but good bones. Not black or silver. Too much maintenance. My SC is Midnight Pine Pearl and it cost me an hour a week just to keep it decent.
And I found the paint codes for the GS by model year yesterday over "Import Archive website. I know this has been posted before somewhere, but since I'm looking, and maybe others are too, I'm posting it up again.

This is true - just to give some context, I just picked up a 99 GS400 with 47k for miles and it cost me $12,000. You see the same thing with the LS430 if they are in good condition and low miles.

I already own a 430. I am looking for a 2000 GS400 specifically because of the freshened up front and rear. But if I was looking for a 430, it would be worth a plane ticket. 😏👍
Thanks.

That’s really low miles the leather must look brand new. Post some pics I’d love to see a 47k mile GS4!

Actually I don't do Facebook. Or Tick Tok. Or some other platforms that I personally feel do more harm to us as a society that they are worth. But if you see something, and I don't have to have an actual FB account, then send it my was. I do appreciate it. Sincerely.

OK. I guess finding anything that resembles accurate information about the 2nd Gen GS400 is as hard to come by as the car itself. All my research indicates that the 2nd is from model years 1998-2000. What am I missing other than the fact that the 430 came on scene?

The 2001 comes with the newer grill and updated tail lights. The grill is personal taste it but the 01+ tail lights definitely look better. Which is why I got a pair on eBay and swapped them myself. Other then that they are the same on the outside except for maybe different 16” rims. If you get a 400 definitely change the tail lights to the 01+. Cheap and makes a big difference in looks

So. There is no 4.0 L GS after 2000 then? Just trying to clarify. Some of my research includes Wikipedia. And it's not like their ever wrong about anything right? Thanks for the clarification.
