that doesn’t sound right. Only drastically different wheel sizes will affect the speedometer not lowering it and even then I’m sure it’s not more of a 10% difference if that.

I'm trying. Its actually quite unbelievable how hard it is to find a decent GS anything actually. I know that I'm way late to the game but dang. I widened my search for the entire country on every Auto selling platform I could find and nada. Either it will cost more than it's worth to fix it, or the odometers are rolled back. Incredible. Keep an eye out for me will you. I know there's one sitting in a garage somewhere owned by a nice couple who used it for a grocery getter. Suspensions shot now, might need the TB and WP but good bones. Not black or silver. Too much maintenance. My SC is Midnight Pine Pearl and it cost me an hour a week just to keep it decent.

And I found the paint codes for the GS by model year yesterday over "Import Archive website. I know this has been posted before somewhere, but since I'm looking, and maybe others are too, I'm posting it up again.

Are you checking all platforms? Facebook marketplace as well? That’s like the number one place to check for cars now and days. The right one will come along but that’s the problem almost every clean well taken care of example is overpriced.

This is true - just to give some context, I just picked up a 99 GS400 with 47k for miles and it cost me $12,000. You see the same thing with the LS430 if they are in good condition and low miles.

I already own a 430. I am looking for a 2000 GS400 specifically because of the freshened up front and rear. But if I was looking for a 430, it would be worth a plane ticket. 😏👍
Thanks.

Actually I don't do Facebook. Or Tick Tok. Or some other platforms that I personally feel do more harm to us as a society that they are worth. But if you see something, and I don't have to have an actual FB account, then send it my was. I do appreciate it. Sincerely.

That’s really low miles the leather must look brand new. Post some pics I’d love to see a 47k mile GS4!

2000 still has the pre-facelift styling. The facelift was for the 2001 model year, when they introduced the GS430.

OK. I guess finding anything that resembles accurate information about the 2nd Gen GS400 is as hard to come by as the car itself. All my research indicates that the 2nd is from model years 1998-2000. What am I missing other than the fact that the 430 came on scene?

just make a bs Facebook account to browse the marketplace. I don’t do social media either I don’t have any of them except I use my wife’s Facebook to look at cars. There’s a lot of cars on Facebook that aren’t listed anywhere else. ESPECIALLY private seller cars. It goes by location so if you want to give me your location I can try and search your area for you see what they got.

the 2nd gen GS is 98-05. In 2001 the GS400 became the GS430 until 2005. 2006 is the start of the 3rd gen. They always do minor changes that people call facelifts about 3 years in that’s why he called it a facelift in 2001. To the naked eye they look the same. The only really noticeable difference is those tail lights and second is the grill but not nearly as noticeable as the tail lights

The 2001 comes with the newer grill and updated tail lights. The grill is personal taste it but the 01+ tail lights definitely look better. Which is why I got a pair on eBay and swapped them myself. Other then that they are the same on the outside except for maybe different 16” rims. If you get a 400 definitely change the tail lights to the 01+. Cheap and makes a big difference in looks

So. There is no 4.0 L GS after 2000 then? Just trying to clarify. Some of my research includes Wikipedia. And it's not like their ever wrong about anything right? Thanks for the clarification.
