Lubs, dont underestimate the cost to fix your car. Damages can quickly run into the thousands of dollars in damage!

Can you post what is visibly damaged?

You're saying you cannot afford to have your insurance go up but you can end up paying more by fixing this yourself.

About 4 months ago, i went over a blowout tire on the highway (just rubber) and when said and done it was near $4000 to fix the damage.

Please be careful in estimating what the damage is. It is not too late to report it to your insurance.

GS4Fun - I realise this will cost many thousands of dollars in parts alone. We have 3 cars in our insurance policy, and we had a claim last year. That sent our insurance up about 30%. I'm 22 years old, and male. Add an accident to that, and I could very likely be looking at upwards of $5000(!) a year in insurance as well as a tarnished record for some time beyond that.

Insurance in Ontario is horrible. I should sell the car and drive around in a moped. But seriously, my dad has a friend that will do the work cheap. And he's getting parts for me at the best prices he can find. Ultimately I'm going to be cutting some costs here and there (buying from yards and such), which isn't favourable to an insurance claim, but this will be better financially. When I'm done school, I think I'll use this car as my downpayment on a new or newer GS. I've lost the want to mod the car now that its been damaged.

I would talk to Sasha and see if he knows any place in Canada that you could go to. I'm not sure if Sasha is still hewre, but I'm pretty sure he roams the boards from time to time. Just an idea.

Question your fault?

was accident your fault? if it wasn't your insurance SHOULD NOT be raised. Thats what you pay for. I might be bad for it, but if anything happens to my car, and it wasn't my fault. I turn it in. Alot of times it can be covered under vandalism, or no fault. Sounds like your looking @ 6-8 k just by what you explained. good luck

Update: My car is almost on its way home. The damage has been fixed, and it's being painted today. I need side markers and the driver's side fog, which I will probably just order from the dealer; I'm getting 15% off.

It's been a very long month and a half without the GS. I cancelled the insurance on the car, and don't plan on driving it until winter is over. I have a space saved for it in the garage. As for transportation, there's usually something home for me to get around in, and I take the subway to school and work. One thing I've learned is how much money you save from not driving, it's incredible. I did end up paying for the repairs myself, with my parent's help. My dad really took care of everything, finding cheap parts and having his friend's bodyshop do the work.

I'm going to get a digicam soon, I'll post pics when possible. I'm looking forward to spring.
