Question Replica GS SportDesign lip spoiler??

I have no idea how good the quality might be on this spoiler but I thought I may as well point it out to you guys. I know I paid A LOT more than what this site is asking but then again I also got a genuine Lexus part.

I was just wondering if any of you out there got this spoiler. How's the fit and finish?

Damn, that's a good price. If it's not a POS, it looks like a great deal.

Here is a past thread on this topic ...CL member Raq purchased this spoiler and took some pics...I would state based on all the pics that the fitment is not quite the same, but pretty close. Probably needs a better tape to hold on.

FYI - the Lexus OEM SD Spoiler is made of fiberglass, same as the one from SpoilerDepot.

I have the rear lip from spoilerdepot and remounted myself with my own 3m tape and it fits perfectly now. I ripped off the foam and tape that came mounted to the spoiler. The foam seal it came with is what made it fit funny. Ill get some pics tonight. The paint job is pretty good too!

Quick post Raq...hehehe!!!

Anyway, I spoke with Steve @ Carson Toyota yesterday and he specifically stated the he WILL NOT be able to get anymore SD Spoilers...so it's either SpoilerDepot or the $1000 OEM Lexus Part (pre-painted in only Black, White and Graphite).

Cool thanks guys. Now I remember reading that same post a while ago.

Didn't realize you guys were talking about the same spoiler. I thought it was OEM Lexus version.

Thanks, it looked pretty crappy with spoilerdepot.com's mounting system. Took me about two hours to scrape off the foam on the bottom with goo-gone. I suggest requesting them to send you the spoiler without tape or foam and just do it yourself. At least it will save you 2 hours.

Do you have the specs on the 3M tape you used, as in width and thickness?

How is the color match? I am thinking about picking one of these up, early Xmas gift for myself.

Thanks,

Joel

Dont know the exact specs. Just when to home depot and bought 3M outdoor weather proof adhesive tape. Its about 3/4" wide. Tape is grey in color and the plastic you peel off of the tape before you apply it is red. Hope this helps.

When you bought the spoiler off of SpoilerDepot.com did you buy it with the factory painting option or did you bring it to a shop to get it painted? What would you suggest is better?

Thanks

A body shop will ALWAYS be the better option (they get to keep your car and create an exact color match specific to your car), but is more expensive. Obviously getting it pre-painted is a lot more convenient, but it really depends on your wallet and attitude.

FYI - I had my SD spoiler painted for about $115 from a body shop...took about 3 days.
