Hi new user and GS300 2001 owner here.
Was wondering if the CD player in my car is compatible with burned CD-Rs. I checked the user guide in my glove compartment and it states that they may not be playable. I have read forums and discussions outside of this website claiming that CD-Rs burned in a specific way work with most car CD players. If any previous/current owner of the same model & year of my car could confirm would be much appreciated!

For me, it wasn't HOW the CD was produced. It was the CD itself. They come in a variety of thicknesses and weights. The recording industry just uses one type, one weight and one thickness. Seems kinda out there I know. But it's a good possibility that the self made CD's could become stuck in your system. I found that out when I bought my SC430. The kid who got it from his grandfather loaded it up with his mix CD's and I destroyed the CD Player getting them out. Had to get another from ebay. FWIW.

It's worked with all the CD-Rs I've thrown at it so far, ranging from early 2000s to late-10s. As long as they aren't CD-RW or encoded as data (MP3).
This is the first I hear of CDs being different thicknesses. They should all be 1.2mm, that is the physical format of a compact disc. I've yet to encounter any that aren't. Any CD-Rs from a reputable company should be manufactured to industry standards.
