I got the player out after new battery installation and using the smack the car method. Took out all the cds, out in one commercial cd and put unit back in but now it reads the player is open. Any ideas?2003 gs300. Stupid 6 cd player is in glove box. Husband added a 6th disc and now the blessed thing won't play or eject. He can disconnect the battery and it will work for a while, won't eject but will play, then he gets error code again and can't play or eject. I'd like to fix it for him but can't pay for replacing it

Not sure of your specific stereo system ( I have the Mark Levinson system) or vehicle type on this one, but recently, I bought an 03 GS430 and the CD player didn't work either.

Bought a replacement on ebay for $80 I think. It didn't work. So I went to the junkyard and pulled one for $30. Installed it and now I have my CD Player again.

Point is, the grease etc is wayyy old inside what is essentially a very precise piece of equipment and no matter what, we are all going to experience trouble like this. You can have it serviced too if you know someone that does that kind of work. And some even spend thousands on a complete new system. Anyway, that's pretty much your options. Hope this helps.
