I test drove the 4th Gen GS450h and the 3rd Gen GS450h back to back... the 4th Gen is more refined, but the 3rd Gen felt more muscular (even with the stock euro 3.266, which I have since swapped to 3.79 differential). The 3rd Gen feels more driver centric with the cockpit layout, 3-dial cluster and gated shifter.
I love my 3rd Gen and will drive it another 10 more years till I get a fully electric car![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Hi I know it been a while since this thread but just recently got myself a third gen gs450h and trying to learn what I could do in regards of modifying it to get the most power out of it as well as exterior and wanted to know what did changing the differential affect the car?

Performance wise, there isn't anything you can do for the hybrid except make sure your battery is fully charged, and weight reduction. If you gutted one it might actually be quick.
If you have a USDM 450h, I'm sure it already has the 3.7 diff, but you could increase to the 4.08 found in the 2IS to help with acceleration.

Not much you can do to a Hybrid.
USDM/CA/JDM GS450h (GWS191) models got the 3.79 differential, only the EU models got the 3.266
Mods that I am planning:
1. 4.08 ring and pinion + IS-F LSD
2. Driftmotion 1-piece driveshaft
3. Figure out how to cut more weight
The End
Nothing you can do to the motor as it is limited to 5500rpm due to the coupling with the MG1/MG2 electric motors, so anything that pushes the powerband up like cams etc you end up losing low end and becoming slower.
I have already removed the spare tire, swapped out the heavy OEM suspension to the HKS Hipermax, changed to Brembo Monoblock 6/4 calipers and floating rotors.
It's decently fast, though there's no real way to launch it properly. There is a switch under the accelerator pedal that you have to press all the way down to get WOT, but it's really just a torque machine.
I would have preferred a GS460 to mod, but I can't get that car here, so I have to make do with the big hybrid.
