Default Check VSC

My 2006 gs300 awd keeps telling me to check vsc, I was planning on fixing the ecu for other reasons but was wondering if this was also an ecu problem. Any tips on a fix?

@Mn06gs300 Why are you fixing the ECU? A problem with the ECU could cause errors with other systems, but you really won't know for sure until further diagnosis. The "Check VSC" message appears when a CEL is tripped. It does not necessarily mean there is an issue with the VSC. You need to connect a scanner to the OBDII and read the stored DTC(s). That will lead you to why you have the "Check VSC."

Simple advice: Read the codes (write them down), clear them and see if they come back after driving a few cycles. If they do, then address the codes that return.
Good luck.

I was told that a problem with my car not shifting into 6th occasionally was an ecu problem. The only code that gets picked up is one for the o2 sensors

An O2 sensor code will throw a check VSC light. I suggest you research the O2 sensor code, clear it, and see if it comes back. Are you running premium gas and have you run any injector cleaner thru the car?

Your " not shifting into 6th gear" may be a separate problem. For a new poster of a 17 YO car, these unknown issues aren't a surprise. Address the two issues separately. You may also want to challenge the person who said your ECU problem created the "not shifting into 6th gear".
