Android Mekede M700 using original camera
Hi all,
Longtime Lexus driver & lover, first time posting. I have done extensive searches on the forum, but can't seem to find a similar topic.
So a while back I've purchased one of the Android units to be used in my 2006 GS. Skipping over the shipping horror and initial problems, I am now ready to install it finally. Lots of videos are available online about installing these units. I'm not a DIY guy per se, but feel I'm up to the job. The system also came with a new rearview camera. Obviously of better quality than the 2006 one. However, I'm kind of hesitant to dive into the whole re-cabling (routing) that will be needed to install the new camera. I would easily settle for using the original camera with the new unit. I think I've seen posts some day about this being possible, but cannot find those anymore. Does anyone have any insight? I remember it did involve some soldering in the electronics portion on the drivers side, but unsure.
Another question would be: is pulling the video cable from the trunk to the dashboard indeed a complicated task? It's still a consideration.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
Jef
