P0017 & p0016
Hi,
I just put in a new hybrid battery and cleared the check hybrid code. But now the car starts up and rattles/shakes. Shows new codes P0017(Confirmed) and P0016(Pending).
I drove the car back home a month ago and it did not shake like this. I haven't changed the oil yet, so I will get to that.
Has anyone dealt with this issue? Is it already too late with the rattle/shaking? It's not a high pitched sound, but its like rough idle, irregular shaking, deeper bubbling tones. Could this be a misfire?
I was so excited to finally have the car start up and battery replaced, only to find more codes.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
This is the short clip I got of the sound. Looking back now...it sounds a lot worst than I thought.
Sound clip: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AtsNyzX7ufX6mxiD...gM4-p?e=iV3VJ0
This did not happen before when I test drove the car. Only when I started it back up, it sounded pretty rough and shook the car. Happened each time I turned the car back on.
To my surprise, changing the oil made the sound go away. The oil was very dark and thicker than normal...Also has this burnt/rubbery smell that is not present in other cars.
I changed the oil twice and it seems to be pretty clean now. The car starts up smooth most of the time. Slight vibrations on some and then smooth idle. Car drives and turns on and off well enough.
Now I have P0017 code, and sometimes P0016 as well. I swapped both camshaft position sensors with known working ones, and also swapped the VVTI actuator around as well as try a spare working one.
I'm going to check the crankshaft sensor, but my feeling is it is not faulty. Perhaps I can open the valve cover next or drop the oil pan.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Below is the sound clip of the car currently. Is that the vvti gear rattle?

Hi,
Finally got a chance to open up the valve cover. I still have to confirm the timing.
Does anyone know if the chain below has normal slack or not? And is there supposed to be a spring on the secondary chain guide?
Also, I noticed that the chain guides on the primary chain isn't touching the chain itself. Is this normal?

Thanks a bunch.
