Default question on driver-side headlight assembly selection

Hi all-mighty forum -

Get a question on driver side headlight assembly on a 08 GS350 while trying to get a headlight assembly -
+ my driver-side low-beam headlight is out, while the high-beam still works.
+ From the exterior, there is a serious water presence in the low beam light and high beam housing.
+ Opening the hood and HID cap, there is water in the housing with 1-2 inches deep, I had to use paper towl to get the water out slowly.
+ with the above damage, i think all the electronic components are bad (in the water), it makes me want to get a new whole headlight assembly unit.

In addition, the headlight does have a washer, and it sticks out but does not spray water when pressing the button with headlight on.

Question -
+ by searching for the driver-side headlight assembly, i have noticed there non-AFS vs AFS model, or with washer/without washer. Is there difference between the two in terms of replacement/installation?
I am not sure if the headlight has AFS (adaptive front lighting system) or not. The original car paper does not mention it, and i am not sure how to test it to find out on the car.
+ anyone experiences the 3rd party headligh assembly from eBay?

thanks!

Do you have AFS button in your drop down panel? If yes,you have AFS and headlight without it throws error on the dash

thanks ArasGS!

did take a pic of it, but do not see the button.

In addition, called the local Lexus dealer, and amazingly based off the VIN, they told me it has AFS on the headlight.

if you create an account on Lexus.com, you can enter your VIN and see every option your car originally came with.

FWIW, I’ve never seen a 3rd Gen GS without AFS. I think they all have them.

Thanks mspearl95 for the suggestion.

I did add it the lexus.com with the VIN, but did not seem to find the information.

interesting. it may not have it then. my gs460 lists it in the options. You can also punch in your VIN on t o y o d i y.com(remove the spaces, for whatever reason CL censors it when I type it as all one word) and get all the original part numbers for your car, mb you can pull the part number for the original headlight assembly and research it to see what comes up.

You should see a button for it in your drop down mirror controls pod. It should say AFS OFF.

well it seems like you must have it then. Like Carfan said, do you have a 'AFS OFF' button in the drop-down panel to the left of the steering wheel? you can also tell by just going out and driving around some corners after dark. you should see your headlight beam move a bit in the direction of the corner.

Yes, i do the see the AFS button on that panel, and by pressing it, i see the AFS showing up on the instrument panel.

Coming from 03 Lexus IS300 manual, i am still learning the bell and whistle of this GS.

Appreciated all your patience and expertise, and love this forum!
