430 or 460 for daily?

Easily 460. with the 430 you get a slower car than a 350, timing belt maintenance, less MPG. The 430 imo offers no benefit over the 460. The valley coolant leak, I have had 2 GS460, 1 with 172k miles and another with 174k miles....never had the issue. Same with the abs module that affects both the 430 and 460. IMO I think maintenance has a lot to do with it. I do a coolant and brake fluid flush every 2 years.
The 460 also has the updated design (front and rear bumper, grill and indicator lights in side view mirrors).
Can't think of any reason to get a 430 over a 460.

Its hit or miss with the abs module, ive seen members replace 2-3 times, while others still on the original brake booster/module. I think it has to do with the climate, the person who replaced his 3 times was in the middle east. While the original booster owner lived up north in cooler weather. But you threw an odd ball on me by living in miami

The 430 engine, is a legend engine! If not mistaken its same engine in the LS430 and those things have reached over 1 million miles. That being said you are correct it is slow, timing belt to deal with, and all outdated tech in the car.

I remember before I got my first 460 I was scared of the abs module going bad....first 3 months of ownership I was worried but knock on wood never had an issue. I heard the same, that in hotter climates they are morel likely to go bad. Both my 460s were on the original module.

I am coming around to this conclusion. The only advantage to the 430 seems to be that they are plentiful by comparison. If I'm not mistaken I have read that the 460 is detuned compared to the LS460? Can this be rectified?

Yes, that is where the real difference is. The manifolds and exhaust are much more restrictive on the GS460. The intake is only a small part of the difference, and the tunes are identical between LS and GS.
Yes, the GS460 has a decent aftermarket and you can reverse the detune and make even more power than the LS460 does. Check out my build page for more info.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried it. I'm seeing more and more 460s with PPE headers though.
