As you can see at http://www.pressroom.toyota.com, it does mention the specs as "Preliminary".

Initial impressions - looks nice but not a knockout, and looks a lot bigger than the current one. Could be just my perception. I didn't want a bigger car really. This one will probably be 4000lbs+.
Take that freakin' aluminum trim out of the center dash - bleccchhh. If I ever got a new GS (unlikely I'd say based on what I see so far), I'd paint that trim.
Lots of other positives though, LED lights, interior looks really nice except for the aluminum trim, bigger wheels that fill fender wells better, etc.
IMHO it looks like BMW made the new 5 series too skinny and Lexus made the new GS too fat.

Well, I for one, am not happy with where Lexus is going. I love the current body and the power is fine for me but I was expecting so much more with the new one. The car really looks like a Maxima and as the past owner of a 97 ES and the current owner of a 01 GS, I personally would be ashamed of owning the new GS in a couple years. Why? Because the styling of the car is of the already old Maxima. It seems they are making a step back instead of forward.
The competition will be speeding past them with more horse power and more forward design. I do like the interior, mostly the console, and it looks like the GS will be loosing the bi level storage in the arm rest. I think I will stick with the current GS style and when I am looking to move up in a couple years, will get a 2004 or 2005 GS430. After that, hopefully, I'll find another Lexus to enjoy as much as I do the one I currently own.

Threxx... true....
the altima has a significantly similar stance to the current GS. The Maxima looks exactly like the altima except bigger. so the new gs was bound??? to look similar. but i wish that lex just completely redesigned the GS... like they did the SC so there would be no confusion...

Great point. I see no "perfect" car coming out in the next 5-6 years now, the 2nd gen GS was PERFECT, to me. But at this time, I still kind of like the new GS.
BTW, that chop looks nice gstrance

But has nobody noticed how blatently Nissan has copied Lexus styling cues in the last few years with the new Altima and Maxima... there are so many obvious things that they copied in their design that I'm not sure we can fault Lexus for looking like a Nissan unless they made the new car look nothing like the old one. I blame Nissan.

Lexus ("to the power of H") is evidently focusing more on new automotive technology and concepts such as taken from the Prius, and this is probably the path we'll be seeing from here on.

What would be nice is a Hybrid of the V8. That would make for a very nice powertrain.

The New GS looks okay, I'm sure it will grow on me - by all means it is NOT better looking than the 2nd Gen GS! I'm a bit disapponted Lexus chose this direction.. It just makes us with '98-'04 GS look better!!
I am keeping my GS400 and buying me a new Corvette or BMW.
Makes my decision alot easier -
Disappointed with direction of Lexus, though car is "Okay" looking.
I think its time for a BMW M3 or New Vette.

Going to the show this weekend. I will attempt to get as much details about the 8cylinder as I can. Someone mentioned bringing their keys to the show is a good idea? Why is that?

I LIKE IT!
I like what I see. Overall it looks like the GS is meatier. The rear light look like the first gen GS. I am dissappointed that they made the quad lights LESS oval though.

the new GS is ok, to be frank a bit disappointed. the v8 desn't get much boost that's a bit disappointing imho, although i knew it ahead of time they are staying with 4.3L engine. i think/hope they have awd with the v8 that would help. wonder what's the weight of the car. styling, need some time to get used to. too much like the maxima i think, headlights and taillights definitely look weird to me right now. the interior looks pretty neat though. wanna see how driving the car feels compared to the current one
