I'm a bit disappointed with the performance spec as well. But I'm not surprised. I think the GS will get the bigger engine once it's ready. I have a feeling they want to save the new engine for the next generation LS. We saw similar treatment to the ES300 with the new 3.3 liter just after 1 year on the market.

Lexus should learn the lesson from Honda/Acura. "Luxury" is not about "good enough". It's about "excess".

btw, anyone knows the curbweight of the new GS? A drop in weight and a new 6-speed auto would bring the performance on par with the new Bmw 545i.

Default Good base to start with

Typical internet forum "car looks like X car and Y car" going on which is totally understandable. But it gets old. The car is here, let's go with what we have.

I think the car is a great starting point in which to begin modifications. Outside of the exotics, there aren't many cars out there that look mesmerizing straight out of the factory. And for sure, none of the Lexus cars do that.

If any of you talented photoshoppers could do up some photos of the new GS with a subtle body kit, rear spoiler, lowered on 19-20" HRE wheels, I think we'll get a better idea of what the car can become.

And to RMMGS4, you car looks fantastic. Just need some HREs on that bad boy and you're set. I love it.

Thumbs up FIrst post

Hi how you doing everyone? this is my first post.
I like the this 2006 GS but
why don't lexus just face lift the current 2nd gen GS again drop the 2JZ-GTE engine in it with AWD?
since 2nd gen GS are still a great car it is definitely not showing its age.

Brian,

The moderator team will do the moderating on ClubLexus please.

I have removed a string of posts from you in this thread due to your cursing and posting off topic comments / photos (example, I'd rather be driving a new Acura TL with a string of pictures of that car).

Please keep to the topic at hand (the new GS) and be polite.

yeah.. i wasnt being the one rude here.. i was defending comments directed at me.. perhaps you didnt read what was said to ME.. in any event, to erase all my posts is a pretty crappy thing to do IMO.. it just goes to show that a person on this board cannot convey his opinions and his thoughts freely without the Lexus police getting on his tail...

The new GS just doesn't seem to have the right look to me. The 2nd generation GS seems to be more edgy but serious look, whereas, the new GS has the bland large cruiser boaty/floaty look. From the side, it looks like the Acura TL's big brother and the rear definitely looks like the Maxima. The front is not distinctive anymore, it doesn't scream - I'm a "GS" like the current generation.

But I wonder how many people who don't like it now would plop down some serious money on the new GS if Lexus decides to bolt a turbo or a supercharger to the V8 to compete with the E55 and M5! Now, wouldn't that be a serious GS line up for Lexus!!!

im kinda disappointed....the they should stay with the 2nd gen styling with some tweakss.....make is more sportier and please No rear overhang....needs to look sportier and skinnier on the rear.....the side is ok but it has lots of room for improvement..
we'' c ..lexus have 1 full year to work on the car again until it really comes out.

oh, and i'm sorry.. am i not allowed to compare two vehicles ? i didnt realize that was against the rules.. From now on, all my comments will be nothing but praise for anything that is Lexus, regardless of how crappy i may think it is in comparison to other vehicles.

I am not the Lexus police, I am the ClubLexus police.

You need to follow the forum rules you agreed to when you joined just like everyone else here. You've already cursed, taken threads off topic, argued with other members and smarted off to moderators. If you have any additional comments to me you need to keep it in a private message.

I remember when the 2nd gen came out, there were mixed reviews AT FIRST. Then it started to grow on people. This is what going to happen with the 3rd GEN gs.

Default I like it, but...

I have to admit I've been waiting to see this to decide whether the next-gen GS would replace my '01 GS430. At this point, I'm probably more interested in the next-gen M45 like others have mentioned. Especially if Infiniti offers that car with any form of manual transmission, but perhaps even if they don't.

Does anyone know what the updated feature set of the car is? Climate controlled seats? Voice activated systems? Laser/radar cruise control? ???
