I actually would have to see it in person before I can answer that question. From looking at the pictures the front head lights where it meets the hood looks like the new Avalon and the rear quarter panel window is like the Nissan Altima/ Maxima, yeah I'd have to see it in person.

from what i heard, the 1st gen GS was italian designed, not the 2nd
Correct, by Guigario. The 2nd gen by the Japanese studio. The 2nd GS (and 3rd) were to be imported in Europe, where the dimensions changed to mimic the 5 and E (short rear and front overhangs). The 1st gen GS was 194 inches long, the 2nd and now 3rd gen 189 inches long.

You will notice a similarity in the C-pillar in the 1st and 2nd gen GS. The 2nd Gen GS blacked out some of the C-pillar to give it a swooping effect.

The window sweep in the 2nd gen was to mimic the "L" in Lexus, or the emblem rather.....
