Nasty IMO

I could remember when the first time I saw the 2nd Gen GS and fell in love with it instantly, but with this new model no way it aint happening maybe after a long long long time.

Shape of the rear looks like the current Maxima and Accord sedan. The 2004 LS runs circles around this new model.

I like the style of the new GS and we still a year before it's launch. I'm sure there will be some change. I think they keep small displacement at 3.3 and 4.3 for the Hybrid version. Plus, Denny Clemons never mention about the HP on the 4.3L V-8. The video was 70% about the RX and 30% on the GS or 65/35. So, something still up it the air on the GS and it will need sometime to finish it up.
Hmmm, Hybrid V-8 with a loaded of TQ and AWD( 4 electric motors on each wheel).

Let's face it, this was the official launch of the car. I think we did see the final product exterior wise without question, but the V8 could change when the LS is due out. But what has been designed on the outside is golden. It would be embarassing to claim this is the new GS and then change it on ppl when the launch date gets near. No company has done that. And shouldn't.
I'm talking about a little cosmetic and some touch up, not the major big change of the body. And most of my reply was on the engine. I like the way it looks right now, but still wondering about the change in the 4.3L engine.

Actually, the 325hp V8 in the 745i and 545i is still 4.4 liters.

I'd look at VW/Audi, who have gotten 335hp and 330hp out of the 4.2l V8 in the Phaeton/A8.

But then again, that's peak performance, which doesn't always mean it's the best. Some prefer a lower peak but broader, flatter torque curves.

Well I have to admit I'm disappointed. Not VERY disapionted but some. I just KNEW this was going to be the car of my dreams. Now I feel like I'm going to be like one of those BMW guys who defend the looks of the butt-ugly 5-series. I can see and hear mysle pointing out the ways is which DOESN'T look like a Maxima. I used to love laughing at the bimmer guys who knew the car was ugly but kept talking up the performance and saying the style would "grow on them". The front is OK. The interior is OK The rear bumper kind of bothers me. And I think in a blurry picture it could me misktaken for a large hatchback.
I do have to admit though, The 1st gen GS was my dream car back in in early 90's, and it took me a while to first accept, then appricaiate then LOVE the 98-04 (05?) model.

So here goes, my first "WHY IT DOESN"T LOOK LIKE A MAXIMA" argument:

BECUZZZZZZ...........

It looks a fair bit like a 7-series

Default new gs

the look is growing on me and i like it. i think it looks enough like my gs400 that i can see how it evolved. i also think those nissan's being mentioned have copied the gs so of course they look similiar. i'll get used to it.

i think the interior looks very nice. the seats look like they offer more lateral support.

i'm curious if it will handle as well as my gs400 after i added all the suspension mods, (sways, braces & coilovers).

do i need more than 300 horsepower? no but i'd bet thats what it would take to get me to sell the car i love so much already. my guess is at some point they will take this engine and tweak it for some more hp.

i would also seriously think about buying one if they offered a stick shift. i would really like to be more involved with selecting what gear i'm in and getting to work the clutch.

thank you all for posting the pictures chopped or otherwise. ivan

Damn, I should be studying for a Calculus test....but this takes priority

I think we better slow down before jumping to conclusions that it's a Maxima copy. There's no way it could have made it this far in development if that were the case. After all, we haven't seen the new GS in person, we're judging based on two dimensional pictures.

IMO, the GS looks quite different from these two angles:

PIC 1: this angle makes the GS resemble the Max

PIC 2: this angle does not

*huge sigh of relief*
Oh thank the lord I was so scared of seing the LFS. But this, now this is a fine looking automobile. Granted, not as good as the current GS, but still nice. Great job Lexus. I can sleep soundly now.
