alright, enough n00bs posting about how they don't like the new gs.... i think ive read about 50 posts of n00bs saying the EXACT same thing, yea we got it. we know you think they copied a maxima and we know you think it shoudl have 500hp.... we got it, we don't need anyone else posting those things.....

and i agree with erick g, who also has a similar name as me (eric g)
i don't think it looks that much like a maxima, has a similar rear, but the tail lights are more like those from the original gs.... and the back and side remind me of the new 5, especially with that line running all the way down the side.... this car looks better and better every time i see it. if you dont like it, thats fine, but you dont need to post a paragraph saying the EXACT same things as the post right above it.... just say, i agree with ____.

and for all those with the idea that this gs should have 500hp or something outrageous, read way earlier in this thread about what i said about what lexus does. they dont build the fastest or best handling cars on the road, they build the quietest, and most reliable, and most luxurious(for the $).... speed and power are extras

Default some thoughts...

wow. not bad. i like it, but i cant say i like it more then the 2nd generation gs as far as body style.
.......... but, to me it looks pretty sick, its different, especially with some simple mods.

also the small trunk is now nonexistant. its almost like a hatchback style. i dont know its hard to top the 2nd gs style, but until i see them side to side i cant knock lexus for style or performance on this one.

anyone know the size of those stock rims? any close ups of the side skirts, looks like some weird stuff going on there. when does the car hit dealerships? thanx.

im sure they improved it alot overall. as soon as you see one you know your going to want one. its the new lex. anyways thanx for listening...

I think the new GS looks OK, but its nothing special. The front is UGLY. The grille and headlights are shaped weird, so i would start with that.

No matter what this design is not a classic design like the 1st and 2nd gen were. Will it still look good 6 or 7 years from now? ........... I doubt it, too may other cars have similar styling............The current GS still looks great and unique compared to other cars on the road and its been out for 6 years.

Lexus should of made the LF-S the new GS. It has fresh, clean, sporty styling that is ORIGINAL and would of looked great for many years.

I'm one of those who agrees on the topic of more power.

I would actually be in the market for a 2007 and hopefully they'll make some changes before the 2006 release.

Default My thoughts.........

I guess the reason why this design is disappointing for me is because its not the original, revolutionary design that Lexus claimed it would be. Like others have said it borrows many styling cues from the Maxima, BMW 745, Audi A8, etc.

Overall the car looks OK, and it looks MUCH BETTER than the Maxima or the 745i. But as a whole the design looks WEIRD due to the car's proportions. The styling lines do not flow together. To me its like the front and back are from 2 different cars, there is no connection.

The main question is: Will this design direction help to differentiate Lexus from other car companies and help them to be the best luxury car company? ......... I dont think so.

IMO, a toned down version of the LF-S concept would of helped Lexus to make a bold styling statement, just like it did with the previous 2 gen of the GS.

I just notice from its side profile. Whats the deal with its "Whale" of a front-end. Wow is that a V-10 in there? NOT Its so not proportined..

I'm re-thinking my claim about maybe getting one..

This really Stressed me out!

Have to wait to see in person but from the all the photos - Its really hard to say..
If you have a 2nd Gen GS - I suggest you hang on to it until further developments.

I just realized that the new GS looks alot like the 1st Gen GS..
Anyone else feeling this?

Seems like alot of manufacturers are going with the Retro look with cars that have some history.
Next thing-we'll see is a Retro Es250

DId someone want any bigger shots?

BTW, I shrunk the images down A LOT -- The originals are 3x that size. Can't post those for public viewing or I'll most likely get in trouble from Wieck.

noticed the 1st gen resemblance too... looks like big poppa BMW 745iL got it on with the old lady 1st gen GS.... no wonder why this new lovechild got her eyes, side-profile a mix between both (similar to the current GS sibling)... but I dont know where she got that azz...well, ya it's similar to her daddy's but... the girl down the street has a similar one.

First of all, those pictures don't do it justice. In real life it looks much lower and wider.
Second of all, new 3.0 V6 245hp engine is more powerful than any other naturally aspirated production 3.0 engine in the world at this moment. E320 has 221hp, A6 3.0 has 220hp and 530i has 225hp. Only Acura's 3.2 V6 has 270hp, but it has 200cc more capacity (but also more hp per litre), and it is more of a high revving sports engine, it doesn't really fit a luxrury sedan.

Also the AWD option is great, especially for those who have snowy winters. I expect the 3.0 V6 GS300 0-100 acceleration to be in the sub 7sec range, because the new 6-speed transmission is a big step from the old 5-speed.

The suspension is new, with selectable settings and AWD it should be any drivers dream.

some modifications i did:

1) custom side skirts
2) custom rear bumper with vents (had to do it to avoid fatness)
3) sidestep sill piece painted body color
4) added body-side chrome trim to avoid the fatness
5) Prodrive rims
6) dark-tinted taillight trim
7) shadowline window trim (chrome becomes piano black)
8) win.racing rear spoiler
9) custom roof spoiler
10) C-pillar window trim piece (to achieve 2ndGen GS look that 1st Gen lacked and 3rd gen needs)

It's not as nice as GSTrance's work but I think it's a nice improvement over the stock piece
