10) C-pillar window trim piece (to achieve 2ndGen GS look that 1st Gen lacked and 3rd gen needs)

It's not as nice as GSTrance's work but I think it's a nice improvement over the stock piece

That looks awesome, good work!

One thing I like the most about the second and third GEN gs is the SHORT OVERHANG of the front and rear. The new GS looks MEANER when hooked up. By looking at Bit's side by side comparision, the new GS still retains the short overhang but with a meatier presence. The ONLY thing I am not feeling is the quad lights, they made it smaller and less distinctive than the pure oval ones from the second gen.

I definately want one. Hmm how much overtime do I have to do.. lets see, if I take no vacation for the whole 2004 year, plus work on sundays from now on... maybe take no sick days.... forfeit some sleep and work 20 hours a day.. collect cans when I am not at work... yes I believe I can do it.

Yes that looks really awesome. I have been looking at the new GS comparing it to my 2nd gen in terms of body design and I can honestly say that I really like my 2nd gen body style but believe after seeing the actual new GS on the road the new body will eventually grow on me. Dont get me wrong I think the new body is unique in its new design nevertheless its a Lexus so we know its of stellar quality.
I am curious if Lexus will make any engine modifications in terms of adding more hp because I believe that will be the breaking point for most of us GS owners who would like to see more power.

I think a lot of ppl should hold their judgements till they see it on the road. I remember I didn't like the 2nd gen GS when it came out. I thought it had a big rearend.

Reading 31 pages in the last two hours I read so many comparisons to the Maxima. If I'm correct, it usually takes 3+ years for a new car design. By that token, if Nissan came out with the Maxima last year, Lexus was already 2 years into the GS design process. It would be crazy for them to drop everything and start from scratch. And according to 1SICK, since Nissan probably took styling cues from the 2nd gen GS, it wouldn't make sense for Lexus to change the new style.

As far as horsepower, I don't care how many HP a Chrysler(unless someone gives me a Viper) makes I still wouldn't own one. Most American companies compensate power and cheap sticker prices for quality anyway. Also, 300Hp is nothing to laugh at.

Just my opinion

Unhappy

Power can be fixed quickly enough likewise brakes and other hardware. What can't be fixed is sheetmetal once the tooling is set.

Agreed. However, mainstream America doesn't see it that way. We are in the midst of a horsepower war where every manufacturer is increasing power....OOoops, except Lexus. Lexus should of, at a bare minimum, extracted another 30 ponies from that engine to keep up.

If HP didn't dertermine how good a car is there wouldn't be any automotive aftermarket and there would be no AMG or M variants for the "competition". The fact is that HP is a major component in the equation of how good a car is for many (if not most) car enthusiasts.

Nissan did made minor modifications of the grille & headlights of their concept 350Z after showing it and listening to opinions in autoshows. I hope Lexus will do it too. They can't do much about the overall shape, which I think is OK, but I think they need to modify the head & taillights which shouldn't be hard to do at this stage.

People, we don't know yet the official HP numbers for the V-8. The VP never mentioned the specifics, all he said is it's going to use the same 4.3L, that's about it. Again, based on the toyota pressroom site, all specs are preliminary. Lexus hasn't even officially revealed the final specs. Hold your horses, in the coming few months we will finally know.

I know that many of us were holding back buying any new car until we seen the new GS. I really think that new design will grow on me, but if the 2005 Infiniti M45 does infact look like these pics, I may have to jump ship.
