News Flash.

Had lunch today with the mole and was told some inside information. The GS430 will have 330-345 HP when released. The following year a Hybrid motor will be offered around 3k more making the car faster with a 13 sec 1/4 mile and 40 mpg city Did I mention AWD Blue tooth and much much more stuff under the skin. The car you see at the autoshow is exactly the way it will come. Unique transmission will be offered on the GS (no manual) pricing will stay about the same.

The GS is ready but Lexus decided they wanted the new RX400h to be relased first then the GS. Lexus may go from the 2004 directly to the 2006 and skip 05. Followed by the new BMWish IS330 with a choice of 2 V6 engines and many more models to choose from than the current IS. Sequoia based SUV and HPX soon to follow with Hybrid motors as well. 90% of all toyota's will be hybrid in 5 years.

Second of all, new 3.0 V6 245hp engine is more powerful than any other naturally aspirated production 3.0 engine in the world at this moment. E320 has 221hp, A6 3.0 has 220hp and 530i has 225hp. Only Acura's 3.2 V6 has 270hp, but it has 200cc more capacity (but also more hp per litre), and it is more of a high revving sports engine, it doesn't really fit a luxrury sedan.

Also the AWD option is great, especially for those who have snowy winters. I expect the 3.0 V6 GS300 0-100 acceleration to be in the sub 7sec range, because the new 6-speed transmission is a big step from the old 5-speed.

The suspension is new, with selectable settings and AWD it should be any drivers dream.
For your information: the new GS engine is a 3.3L V6, it's not the most powerful 3.0L**
The BMW 330i has 225hp and it beats the current 3.0L INLINE 6.

There is no more 3.0L in the GS.

In 1998 and 1999 the 3.0L Inline 6 was 225hp.

Sounds nice. So Lexus is going to offer a GS430, a hybrid GS, and the GS330? What would be the purpose of buying the GS430 over the hybrid if the hybrid is faster AND more fuel efficient? BTW, 40 mpg sounds fantastic! Hmm, so the hybrid will supposedly be out in 2006 as a 2007 model. Well, I guess I got a couple more years to enjoy my current GS.

Thanks for the link. I got to give Infiniti credit, the new M45 looks pretty sweet. First the G35 and now the M45. Infinity is designing some great looking cars. The only potential negative is Infiniti's historical poor resale value. But after the companies success with the G35, and now maybe with the M45, Infiniti may be turning things around.

GS STRANCE:

That NY WIZARD chop was Totally Hilarious. You just need to add ridiculous neon, fake carbon fiber, thongs hanging from rear view mirror, and dishwashing rags and place mats for the wheels. Also worthless stickers of companies who he is NOT sponsored by.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

345 HP would be more like it. Jimx, does the 345 HP come from the current 4.3 V8 or is there a new engine Lexus is not mentioning yet?

Jimxo, it seems that some people including myself are not too happy with the design of this car. One poll here indicates that 60%+ are not happy with it. It's not scientific by any means, but you get the point. From your conversations with your mole, what is the opinion of the Lexus people who have seen this car and possibly driven it already? Are most happy and excited about the design? Also, has your mole seen anything on the new LS at all?
