Too bad about having to wait on the GS Hybrid.

I imagine the new thing of the future will be to create sound simulation systems that can be connected to hybrid or electric car computers and synthesize what older gas engines used to sound like.

I patent the concept :-)

Hey I really like the car now. In fact..I love it! Again people..there is no official word yet as to how much HP the V8 would bring. They never mentioned it. If you watch the autoshow live event video at www.pressroom.toyota.com again...the slide showed the HP number for the V6 but not the V8. What does this tell? Lexus has yet to come up with the HP number. I have a feeling it would be 15 to 20 ponies more. I think there's a reason why Lexus revealed the car early. They want feedbacks. But definitely they can no longer change the design. Probably like HPs and options.

They had feedbacks couple of months ago with the LF-S ! They should have done this new GS much closer to that athletic , muscular, aggresive LF-S ! This new GS does not look like a prototype, it looks like a production model !

Good point, he did mention this. The engineers did mention that there is a lack of feel in the car with the Hybrid motor. It's so smooth you really don't feel your going that fast. Acceleration may not be the same either but there working on that. As for design no chance in hell it's going to change he to thinks Lexus could have done better.

As for the 345 hp that will be on the high end if were lucky

Unique transmission will be offered on the GS (no manual) pricing will stay about the same.
EDIT: I just read that again. He could be referring to the other transmission at the same price as whatever the new GS price tag may have.

Have to wait and see I guess...

Hi All

JIMXO your mole might be right this time around.
I was at the Show and spoke to different people, they don't give up much but you can make something out of it

As for (minor) details things could still change, 340hp sounds about right, because the "hybrid" part adds about 40hp (see diference between RX330 and 400h).
However I do not think acceleration will improve because of it (same figures 330 and 400h) might be due to additional weight added by the hybrid part ?

As for release I get the strong feeling it will be a 2006 released in March 2005 (like the RX 330, model 2004 released in March 2003)

As for looks (although still disappointed) it does look better in person than in pics, I looked at it for at least (in total - 6 different visits) 30 minutes, took video shots and lots of pics to review later

I could post them but there are a lot around already, if you like I can post them next week because since I am traveling I have to make due with 56k

I also have the Press Kit and a CD or DVD with pics

By the way price difference between "regular" and AWD Hybrid sounds about right at 3 to 4 K
It needs 19" to look much better

Could the LF-S be the future LS ????

Okay gang, just a thought.

The stock RX 330 makes 230hp. The RX 400h makes 270hp with the hybrid.
THe new GS 330 makes 245hp. AWD will be offered, I am 100% sure hybrid. So this means the AWD GS 330 will be a (at least) 280hp vehicle.

Then there is no way in hell the V-8 GS 430 will make 300hp. It's too close and does not make sense.

So I am 120% confident, the GS 430 will make at least 320hp.

If a hybrid is offered for the V-8, we are talking at least 350hp. I see a low, maybe flat 5 second GS then.

Now all you people wanting more horsepower that ain't buying the car can go have a beer this weekend.

Looking at other car forums, I would say 75-80% love it and the 20-25% do not like it. The MAIN comment is too "Maxima-ish".

I say we petition the governement to quarentine and burn every 6th generation Maxima. Therefore good night look-alike.

For those of you who think they will make some changes to the new GS, dont forget back in january 97 when they introduced the HPS, they made no changes then for what is now the current GS. I also Understand that the IS 430 project has 340 HP so I think that will be the power output of the new GS 430

What about that PANORAMIC GLASS ROOF ???? Take a look at the infiniti m45/nissan fuga 2005 - it looks beautiful ! and IT WAS PRESENTED ON LF-S !!!!! Also, i hope it won't come in a package which may interfere with other packages and can not be combined with other accesories/features as it happens with RX330

CORRECTION!!!. The new GS won't have a 3.3L, it will have the 3.0L V-6 found in the new Toyota Crown. Remember Lexus VP mentioned an "All-new V6". And the Crown does have a 260 or 270hp(don't exactly remember) version. To refresh, it will carry the 3.0L V-6 with 245HP and 220+ torque. I wonder if Lexus will still have the Mark Levinson sound system. Ya, like I said before...Lexus hasn't revealed official specs for the V-8. JIMX0's post sounds more sense. The V-8 will scream out at least 330HP.

I think it will be MARK LEVINSON -
1.the newly tuned IS430 had a MARK LEVINSON with 7.1 surround system 20 speakers 720 w - LINK-http://www.rodmillen.com/Is430.htm

2.ACURA TL has an incredible audio system - LINK - http://audioworld.com/cgi-bin/FrameI...le=FrameIt.cfg
