Funny thing - a lot of other reviewers - autospies, yahoo, edmunds, etc -see the new GS as inspired by the LF-S, although it looks 95% as that first spy pic from hollywoodextra site ( 2 years ago) ...
LOOK AT - THIS PIC
IS THERE A CENTER CHANNEL / SPEAKER ? LIKE IN INFINITI FX ? That would be nice

you know, i really dig it. but there is always this one thing that gets me about toyota. they really arent into the power game as everyone else. true, the car comes with 300 hp, thats nothing to be pissed about, but take the BMWs for instance. Every year, the HP rating goes up. the Nissan Maxima has jumped damn near 75hp since the 2nd gen. other than that, im really stoked about the 2006 gs it looks hot, looks beautiful. but i was expecting like 500 hp v8 and a 300 hp 6. but i guess itll do.

Everyone speaks of the car not having enough hp. The easiest way to have more hp is to lose weight. Perhaps, Lexus needs to use some different materials and lose weight and then the 300hp rating would propel the car as if it had 350hp. HP is not the only factor.

No pics on page 49 of the rear seat except through the rear window.
Can someone please post pics of the rear seat as seen through an open rear door, someone sitting in the seat, showing rear seat leg room, etc.. you know what I mean.
Thanks.
also if anyone knows official specs of front and rear legroom.
Either pay, PICS PICS PICS PLEASE !!!

Don't current GS's with the Levinson system have a center channel speaker there? I thought I remember sitting in a '02 GS430 in the showroom and seeing a center channel speaker.

Someone said the V6 is 3.0, this is incorrect, it is definitely a 3.3 V6 just like the RX, highlander, Camry, etc. Except this one will provide 245 ponies, a little bit more than the others.
I just went to the autospies website. They have a poll indicating that 35% think the new GS will be a winner, 12% think will be a loser, and about 53% think that not only will it be a loser, but it's styled after the 5 and 6 series. Now from my personal taste I think Lexus could've done better and should have because the GS is greatly outsold by both the E and 5 series. The 5 series sold 46,964 units in 2003 (U.S. market) and the E sold 55,683. Lexus GS series only sold 13,300 in 2003 (11,200 GS 300 and 2,000 GS 430). As the 5 series was introduced later in the year, it is a fair comparison as the 5 is also an old model.
Conclusion: I do not see a resemblence toward the 5 and 6 series in the new GS. Therefore that poll is worthless.
However, the GS has a lonnnnnnnnng way to go to catch the E class and 5 series in sales. I can't stand MB and BMW selling more cars than Lexus. But as much as I love Lexus, the new GS will not quadruple its sales in order to catch those two perennial sports sedans. It's unfortunate because Lexus needed a homerun here, but they did not get it. However, with a more potent V8, hybrid technology, and AWD, this car should gain in character what it lacks in looks. I am really fearful of where Lexus is heading with their new LS. They can't afford to bodge the new LS.

I think that cut out is for something useful, may be the display for the Hybrid or some technology like the night vision, but display the info on the center of the windshield ( projector)...????

This is incorrect. The new GS will in fact carry the 3.0L V-6. It's a new engine also carried by the new Toyota Crown. Carefully read the specs again.
I don't see any resemblance to the BMW 5 or 6 series at all. People are just exaggerating due to their disappointment of the new design.
