We all know that the Lexus 4.3L V8 is capable of producing more HP. I don't know if anyone else has kept up with the Rolex 24 race just a couple of days ago at Daytona. There were three teams using the Lexus engines. The race modified 4.3L V8 was producing 500HP and running at 8000rpm. This news is making me think Lexus is going for more performance image in the future. This time it is not Toyota in the spot light but Lexus. Just hope the new GS430 will have more of a HP bump. I don't think it will happen on the initial release though. I think it will happen when the LS430 get redesigned and SC430 get freshen up in a few years (2 to 3). I now am think of holding on to the current 2001 GS430 if the initial release does not get a HP bump.

From Automibile Magazine March '04 (a very critical design automobile magazine) on the new GS:
One of the least derivative sedan designs Lexus has proposed, the newest GS is smoother and far more interesting than the Mercedes clones Lexus has done in the past. Very nice.

More HP, need more aggressive wheels with a lip, Remove the cherry wood and give it all aluminum finish or reomve the aluminum and give it all wood with better color scheme. It should be available with AWD and 6 Speed manual transmission and the front grille needs to be more bold something like the MB grille or even better. In addition I asked that side chrome bar thing to be removed......
It was fun to check out the car. I ranked E500 (First) Lexus GS430 (Second) Bmw 545i (third) and Jagura (dead last) [/B]

Good job on the changes for the new GS!!! I'm sure most of us will agree with what you put
down for the changes. Is the E500 a new model coming out or currently the same one?
From the streaming video from ChuH, the new GS still have that darn
middle HUMP.

Sorry but that wood blows monkey nuts. Looks like that Zebrano used in the STS. I like it in the STS, not a Lexus. Is that 2 speaker cutouts in the rear door? And I see a place for rear seat passegers to put crap in the door.
I can't believe I am actually anxious for a car.

Just got back from viewing the GS at the Chicago Auto show. Nice car but not as exciting as the new Corvette. I love the new seats but cant say I will buy one anytime soon.
If your in the market for a GS wait until Jan 05 but the deals on the current generation will be hard to pass up.
