Default My speculation

http://www.auto-report.net/index.html?tm200402.html

We already know that Lexus has registered the trademark for GS460 therefore we can guess it will have a V8 4.6L. When the new major redesigned LS is expected to be release in late 2006 we can assume it will initially have a larger engine therefore logically the GS should get the same engine about the same time. I have word that in early 2007 there will be a Hybrid V8 for the LS therefore this engine may be available for the GS also (no word on displacement).

In early 2006 there will be GS450h hybrid which could be a V6 or V8. I would think a V6 3.0L or 3.5L would be most logicial. I do not think the GS hybrid will be a 4.5L V8 as we know there will be a GS460 (V8 4.6L). If there will be a V8 4.5L Hybrid then it should have a higher numbering scheme than the GS460. I would expect the HP of the hybrid to be lower than the GS460. In late 2006 there will be a new V6 3.5L for the GS (based on trademark registration of GS350).

Hello Everyone, just got back from Glendale Lexus and saw the 2006 GS 300 AWD and RX 400h in person. I also saw a quick glimpse of the 2006 IS 250/350. Sorry I wasn't able to take pictures of the IS photos.

?????? What??? Why no pics of the IS-series??? I thought that they didnt have the brochure??? Well if you did, what did they have to say about it. Does it look like anything that we have seen in the spy pics floating around CL??? Is the 3.5L engine with 300+ Hp actually gonna make it into the IS350???Anything??? You can throw out a little info.

We couldn't take pics of the pics because the pics they showed us were taken discreetly w/a camera phone. It was taken from a Lexus Employee only event that happened a few months ago so all the info that was shown to us was internal. Another reason why the pics weren't shown because the real release will be saved for a later show date, and Lexus did not want to have the new IS steal the spotlight from the release of the new GS. The car looks good. Think of a 3/4 scale of the GS but obviously with it's own styling cues. As discussed in previous threads.. IS250 will have rwd & awd versions. The IS350 will have 300+hp. No exact numbers were released at this time. BTW, the spy pics don't really do any justice for what the car will actually look like.

Great pictures but it might be just me don't you think the "L" on the front is HUGE. If I were to get one my first mod would be to get rid of that "L". Thoughts?

They are huge, but I want everybody to know that I'm driving a LEXUS.. Everytime I see this car, I just end up liking it more and more. Now actually seeing somebody in the car driving it gives me a better idea on how I would look inside of it.. Those Xenons are really blue. And Flip?? Do you know if the Amber fog lights are coming back??? I love those lights with such a strong passion. White w/Black interior?? Is this a first?? Or just gonna be really rare??

Okay, okay, I just went to IS300.net, and your telling me that the GS300 is probably going to start at 46K??? All of a sudden I have become quite passionless about the car. 46K for a 6cylinder?? What are we, MB, and BMW who over charge there middle class car??? Whats the 8cylinder gonig to start at?? 55K?? This is just horrible, and unacceptable. I guess the RL is not looking like a bad deal after all.(That 46K better be a typing mistake.)

I will post the interior pics soon. This interior motif is currently used with the RX330 (same light gray and dark gray colors) but w/o the black bird's eye maple. The White w/Black interior has yet to been seen for the new GS. I would like to see the white colors w/that new light gray/ash/dark gray w/black bird's eye maple combo.

FYI, the info you read is preliminary info. Possibly the price for that particular GS which was an AWD model with some exclusive features found in Ultra Luxury package of the LS.

White/Black interior is rare, but not a first
And it seems tasteless huge emblenms are in. Every car maker either has huge badges like the Escalade or has their whole name spelled out like I N F I N I T I on trunks and A C U R A on front bumpers. Seems Lexus will go the Caddy route of giant badges

Dare I say I am more interested in the IS?

Mike you have a good point the new IS does sound pretty cool. Hopefully the pictures will do it justice.

Okay okay, cool. I dont want to be scared like that. 46K is a lot. Still dont know about the Amber fogs though right? Definitely not a deciding factor, but i love the contrast and would like to know if I have to buy some yellow bulbs in the aftermarket.

The yen is jacked up, this may have something to do with it. The old GS started at 38k in 1998. The GS 400 started at 44k which was the 1st gen asking price!
If Lexus could keep the GS 300 starting under 40k, $39,999 and have the GS 430 start at 46k, that would be great.
