The new GS gets voted "the winner of the 2004 Auto Trophy prize for imported Luxury cars" in Germany. Oh well... I guess it's still something to be happy about...

And maybe I'm prejudiced, but personally I think the main reason why the new GS won over the new RL and M45 in the imported luxury car category was that the brand awareness for Lexus is still quite a bit greater than that for Infiniti and Acura in Germany, and not necessarily that the new GS is really a better car than the two.

Not sure if the new RL will be available in Europe as a Legend, but I don't think Infiniti cars are available there even as a Nissan.

So that means the new GS basically won in a category where there was zero (0) competitor?

Edit: And it still won only 16.5% of the votes?? Which models won the 83.5% anyway?

It's better . The RL is sold as the Honda Legend, not sure if they will sell the M35/45 as the Nissan FUga. Infiniti in Europe is still 4 or 5 years away.

Default GS wins design Award in Europe

The GS won an award for styling and design in Europe even before it was sold. But I cannot find the link? Can someone provide it?

Sorry Sick but this thread does not need a sticky. It's a repost x 2 and you have even made a reply to the first one in last October.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=140800

And then again I'll point out that this award was for the "best imported luxury car in Germany", which means no German car was competing, not even Infiniti and Acura, whose M35/45 and RL aren't being sold there.

Nevertheless, those glimpses were enough to impress 84,000 German readers of "Auto Zeitung" and "TV Movie", naming the new Lexus GS the winner of the 2004 Auto Trophy prize for imported Luxury cars.

For Germans imported cars are all brands/models not German origin. Luxury cars in that category - Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Saab, Volvo, Cadillac, Aston Martin, Jaguar, all other British brands etc.
