I take my last post back. I just went to the Canadian website and this $77,000 price is really for a GS300 AWD with Premium Package. The Premium Package adds the typical things one would get with a luxury car like DVD based NAV, ML Audio system, and other features to make it comparable to its Acura and Infiniti competitors. The price really did come out to $77,000.

The base GS300 AWD does MSRP at $66, 700 which is $4000 less than an Acura RL, but you have to give up a lot of the good options.

Just for kicks I priced out a Premium Package GS430 and it comes out to $88,000. Isn't that about the current Canadian price of the LS430? It makes you wonder how much the new LS430 will cost when it comes out.

Yeah im very disheartened by the canadian prices. The money factor is about 1.2 between canadian dollars and US. a BASE GS300 for 50K?

If the prices hold true between both places -

then, forget it...im going to hold off on my dream....Its over priced now.

Even for 50,000, its over priced in my opinion. So far, im very disapointed...

64,300 canadian dollars for a base GS300 RWD with no options added on = $53,500 US DOLLARS

HELL NO....THAT IS WAY OVER PRICED, As good as the car is, theres no way lexus is going to have people run to the dealerships now...IF the pricing remains equated from canada to US.

You can't go with a straight exchange rate difference and extrapolate GS prices from that. A lot of other factors come into account.

My guess is that the GS will be about $1000 more expensive than the M at every price point. This means that a GS300 with all the goodies (Navi, ML, Lasercruise) will be about $48,500 (M35+Journey+Tech=$47,500) and a GS300 AWD with all the goodies will be about $51,000.

A GS430 with the goodies will be about $55,000 (M45+Journey+Tech=$54,300).

The extra cost of the GS is the Lexus "prestige" premium over Infiniti.

Just my guesses.

Ok You guys have to be very wrong. Their is no way in the world the gs300 fully loaded wut awd is no where near 50k. My guess is about 47500 at the most possible. And i think flly loades th 430 will be 55k.. I love the car and want to buy it but the residual value ont hese 2006s are going to be horrible due to the simple fact that the 07's are going to be 3 new engines and all 06's are screwed and boom once 07 comes their goes ur return and resale value rates threw the floor.
But here are my guesses USA PRICES
msrp gs300 - 40k
msrp gs300awd - 42500
msrp gs430 - 49k

And how do you know this? What 3 engines for 2007 are you talking about? The only thing that is coming new for the 2007 model year is the GS450h Hybrid.

Also new will be the GS350 and GS460, the trademarks of which have been filed along with the GS450h in November.

It's only a reasonable guess that the three new GS's will be launched at about the same time.

I think Lexus has made a serious mistake here. If they really wanna sell the GS300 and GS430 first for only a year or two, keep the almighty GS350 and GS460 a god damn secret!!! Don't show off to the rest of the world the GS350 in Japan. Don't even file trademarks for them. Heck, when I bought my '02 ES300 there was no clue that there was gonna be an ES330 in less than two years. The worst thing any company can do when launching a new product is to let potential customers know in advance that an even better product is right around the corner. Most of them would then just hold off. (Windows ME anyone?)

Toyota and Lexus generally follow a 5 year production cycle. 3rd year of production is usually a powertrain change, 4th year is an update/facelift. The ES changed over to the new 3.3L 3MZ-FE came in 2004 as the current ES model came in 2002. I highly doubt Lexus will release a so called GS460 in 2007 but more likely 2008 as well as the GS350. The reasonable time to see the new powertrain bumps will be 2008 for the new GS unless they abnormally elongate the production span like they did for the Gen2 GS.

Just finally got on the Canadian Lexus website and downloaded the brochure that they have sent out. Here is something that I found.

The GS430 priced with the Premium Package which includes:
AM/FM Stereo Cassette, Compact Disc DVD Audiochanger
14 speakers
mark levinson audio
clearance and backup sensor
laser cruise control
rear window sunshade
coloured rear spoiler
DVD baased davigation system with backup camera
pre-collision system
rear seat side airbags
heated passenger sear with Ventilation fan
heated driver seat with Ventilation fan
rain sensing wipers
automatic wipers

All this for $88,000

Ok, so I just did some more looking around. The LS430 STARTS at $84,900 on the Canadian Website and the base LS430 here starts at $55,675. So that looks like good news to me. Looks like the GS430 fully equipped will cost somewhere between $55k and $60k. YAY!!!!! I'm really starting to love this car

yup i agree. i think their current price range is perfect. raising the price higher isn't going to be beneficial. coz' that will make the ls430 more difficult to sell

Yah true. I do agree with you guys...i hope that does turn out the case...lol

What sux is that i just wanted the base GS300 RWD with HID lights (if this was not already standard) and mainly wood package (on steering and shift ****) as the only option on the car...but according to the canadian website thats like a $7000 US option and gives you all that other stuff I reallly dont care too much for. So i have to pay for that whole premium package and get all that stuff they give ...

and if what you guys hypothesize about US pricing - thatll take the MSRP of the GS300 RWD to like 48K dollars. (+TTL and fees)

man..that sux....i wanted to stay under 45K dollars.

Come to think of it...i talked to a guy named mario at a dealership in California...forgot which one and asked him the pricing (i posted this info on another thread)...and told him all i was interested in was the base RWD GS300 with just the wood package as the only option (and HID if it wasnt offered standard)...he had told me "ur looking at right under 45K...just shy of 45K for that car.."

So is it possible that just the wood package is offered by itself alone instead of with everything else? Could it be that canadian option packages offered is going to be different in offerings than the US option packages?

I sure hope so. I really dont want to pay for that ML audio and navigation....im not a high music fan..and i think the premium audio system with the speakers they give will be more than satsifactory for someone like me...and as for the navigation - i havent gotten lost yet in the places I have driven to or try to find...lol It would be nice to have it - but its not worth it to me to dih out extra 3 grand for something like that.

well i guess before the car is really out and dealership can confirm what exactly you are getting it's very hard to say. i don't know how the salesman can be so sure that you can get that combo and for that price though

It's called suckering the customer to lure them into a deal. Hook line and sinker!
