That looks like a $2000US increase for the GS300, and a $3000 increase for the GS430. That is pretty high. Add on the $5000 over invoice MSRP without much discount, I calculate the 2006 US cars will be $6000 to $8000 net cost more than what you can buy a 2005 GS for.

Am I right ?

Wow. Lexus has typically always had the new generation come out as the same price as the outgoing model. Then every year make small increases.

The yen is not trading favorably, this is one reason possibly for the price increases.
Do Canadians get Infiniti? Or do they bring the Nissan M35/45 as the Fuga? If ya'll don't' get that car, no reason for Lexus to hold the price.

In the US, the M35/45 prices are aggresive and even though Infiniti has never had a successful expensive car, I can't see Lexus ignoring the pricing. The car is much improved.

2 months before its debut and no US pricing. I think they trying to figure out will they battle head to head pricing (like the original Q45 vs LS 400) or figure the Lexus brand will simply attract customers regardless.

Actually, some dealerships claim they will sell over sticker price.

In Canada, it's illegal for dealers to sell over MSRP.

Canada has Infiniti for over a decade since day one, & they also sold more cars than Lexus here, mainly because of the lower prices I think, since Canadians have lower disposable income on average & are much more budget concious.

thank you. FINALLY, someone that spent an 5 seconds to actually investigate.

In fact, if you check the difference in Canadian and US pricing in USD, difference is 25%. Which means that there is an 25% difference in pricing due to taxes and lexus prices.

Canadian pricing difference between new GS and 2005 model is 2.1k USD.
If you take 25% out of that price, you get ONLY 1.5k difference between old GS300 and new one.

So, what are you going to get for 1.5k in BASE RWD GS300:
- bigger car with seriously bigger wheelbase
- awesome new double vvti engine with 250hp
- awesome 6 speed automatic
- standard 17" tires
- standard HAS (hill start control)
- LEATHER SEATS STANDARD, HEATED WITH MEMORY
- HIDS STANDARD
- 240W, 10 speaker audio system STANDARD
- Cool stuff like elecromatic mirrors (all), steering wheel controls,
- 10 Airbags
- push start button, smart key system

And all of that will weight about the same as old GS.

Someone is going to tell me now that they have a problem with 1.5k increase with all these standard features that were NOT standard before? Heck, just leather interior and HIDS were 2.2k extra on old GS.

Jarrett.

I spoke with my Lexus dealer in Chicago, and he said that the 06 GS 300 AWD will be around the mid th upper 40k. I think that the canadian prices are a lot higher than this gs will be.

You have to thimk about it, The LS is the flagship of the Lexus Sdan line up. The prices wouldnt overexceed the top model. I hope that its not more than 55K.

O/T I have a question for you. Why do you address your self at the beginning of each of your posts? Do you read from bottom to top and right to left?

As I explained Canadian prices are HIGHER than Lexus sold in the US. I was making a point that Lexus prices in Canada are much more inflated than the US. Is that why you addressed me?

I meant there is approx $5000 margin from the dealer invoice price to the MSRP price. Assuming that you can buy a 2005 for dealer invoice price today (which I am pretty sure you can do, maybe even below invoice as they will blow out all the old cars), when the 2006 arrives, and you had to paid the new MSRP which is $2000 to $3000 higher than the current MSRP, that is a $7000 to $8000 difference in purchase price between the 2005 and 2006. I am talking about actually purchase price that one is able to get.

Even with different import taxes in Canada, the Canadian prices of Lexus ( & all other cars) look inflated compared to the US. only because of the dramatic decline of the US dollar against the Canadian & Japanese currencies (& most other major currencies) the past couple of years.

A new Lexus car cost about the same here in Canadian $ here now as it was 2 years ago, but was actually cheaper compared to US prices 2 years ago because the exchange rate was at low to mid 0.6's then whereas it is at low to mid 0.8's recently.

Just a comparison of the GS vs. M Canadian Pricing:

Base Prices:

GS300 - $64,300
GS300 AWD - $66,700
GS430 - $74,700

M35 - $54,800
M35x - $58,300
M45 - $64,400
M45 Sport - $71,800

There is quite a bit of a difference with M and GS pricing. The base price of a GS300 is almost $10k CDN more than a base M35. Even the GS300 AWD is $8k CDN more than an M35x. The M45 Sport is about $3k CDN less than a GS430. It will be interesting to see how this translates into US pricing.

M45 Sport - $71,800 CDN ($59,069 USD)
M45 Sport - Real USD Base Price ($49,550)

GS430 = 61,464.00 USD * .83885 (Exchange Factor) = $51,559 (Estimate Base USD)

I am not sure why the base GS300 is so much more than the base M35, ($6k USD based on exhange factor) but it looks like the GS could be about $2k more than the M overall.

Thumbs up

Where did you find the Canadian M pricing? I couldn't find it on Infiniti Canada's web site.

As a side note , I went to the Detroit Auto show yesterday and spent quite a bit of time checking out the GS and its main competitors (Infiniti M, Acura RL, etc) and I have to say that the GS is by far a much better designed vehicle both in terms of quality of materials, build and overall style. Definately a winner in my opinion.

Also saw the LF-C and LF-A in the flesh.
