Gs430 Mpg?

???
Where did the 5.6 second 0 to 60 come from? Lexus themselves said 5.7 seconds. Not a huge difference, but I'm looking at the M45 and of course, depending on which car mag you choose to believe, the claims of that time are 5.6 and 5.3 seconds. I was disappointed to hear that the Lexus was going to be slower. Especially because, Lexus was saying that this GS430 was going to be faster then the outgoing model, I expected a bigger difference to 60 than .1 second. Anyway, I'd love it if the time was 5.6, maybe once it is finally tested by those car mags, they will get even better times.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

0-60 times always vary
One nice thing about 0-60 times is that it is a bottom line kind of figure. There is usually some qualifier attached like "with a professional driver on a closed course and do not try this at home" Then the magazines get involved. I like the new Jeep Hemi commercial which uses AMCI which is an industry respected source for these type of measurements. The old family Jeep shuts down the Bimmer and the Audi. That's funny......My figure was given to me at the factory training in New Jersey and i have also seen the 5.7 figure bandied about. The GS430 also shoots down the BMW and the Audi but can it handle the Hemi?
All you ever hear out of Infiniti and Acura is Horsepower. Most of us don't really redline our cars from stoplight to stoplight. Torque or twist is usually something you can hang your hat on. The Q45 Infiniti came to the party with 345 HP. It was almost a full second slower than the 290HP LS430. Then there are the gear ratios in the tranny and the rear diff. VW likes to give you quick 0-50 but is weak 50-100. The SC430 and the GS430 current generation beg to be taken on the Autobahn. Either one is very calm to drive at 100 MPH and can lull you into a ticket without realizing it. I'll bet the M45 will not have the electronic goodies of the new GS430 and in the long run it will cost more because everyone knows that Infinitis drop in value like a rock. They make good pre-owned values and are getting more stylish all the time. Still why pay more for less?
