Default is there a break-in period?

anyone know if i can drive my car hard now, or if there is a break in period?

Some say no some say yes. I do it just because. Just be easy on the gas for the first 500 or 1000 miles to let the gaskets seat properly. Then you wont have issues later down the road with oil buildup around your motor i.e. leaky valve cover gaskets.

Those that say no claims that the car is already broken in before they leave the factory, & that they've already redlined the car during testing. I do follow the break-in period just to be on the safe side. There should be a break-in schedule with instructions on the do-not's in every car-owner's manual.
