Default test drove new gs300

I lked the car to a point/ pro looks good, tranny is great, engine is good. cons. car still floats when pushed. it will never be a bmw. also it will never have the horrible repair history of my bmw 528. cons
why 246 hp when new avalon has 280? Aslo new gs430,which it would reallly like is still getting old
300 hp engine. 460 is in the works. more issues. All the cars at our dealer in Harford Ct have run flats , with no spare/ even donut spare. . plus 430 all so far come with 4600 levinson /nav.. If I wanted to special order in 3 months I could get car w/o. I have driven new m45. WOW WOW. fast
handles well . looks no way close to lexus. dash setup on m45 is terrible. except for the tach/speedo cluster. the center stack is really bad. lexus center stack is much nicer./ waiting for this weekend to drive 430 hopefully with adjustable "sport suspension" is will handle like the m45 and close to my
standard , non sport suspension 528..still buying a new car that is obsolute engine wise.

Simple...

The GS has two engine choices
1) 3GR-FSE 3.0L Dual VVT-i V6 which is All New w/the new 6spd Super ECT-i Auto Trans.
2) 3UZ-FE 4.3L V8 VVT-i w/an all new 6spd Super ECT-i Auto Trans.

The Avalon only has one engine choice. Forget the fact The Avalon has more horsepower, it's targeted to another target market and is a FWD Flagship Toyota. The GS is a Lexus.

The 4.6L V8 doesn't exist or even out yet and is not scheduled to come out until the next LS appears. After it debuts in the next LS, then you'll find it in the 3rd gen GS.

How is the 4.3L V8 3UZ-FE VVT-i obsolete? Because it only has 300hp? It's very advanced and efficient compared to other manufacturers out there. Plus it's mated to a new 6spd Auto Tranny. It still holds it's own.

If the new GS3 has close to 300 HP, this would force the GS4 to have more HP to attract GS4 buyers. Toyota not ready to put a new V8 in the 06 GS4?

I think some of ya'll need to hit the brakes. First, for those with these questions, they can be found answered in many of the GS threads here. Two, try not to speculate if you don't even have all the facts for the current model yet.

Eventually, the GS 300 will become th GS 350 and the GS 430 will become the GS 460. A GS 450h hybrid is coming next year.

But honestly, this is nothing totally new. The GS 400 became the GS 430 after 3 years. The GS 400 did not become obsolete at all. The 430 was just a slightly bigger engine. The same thing will happen with a mid life product refreshning that ALL car makers do.

Again. my suggestion to many people who are curious about things, go back and reread the longer threads for TONS of information and speculation.

Default Test Drove Today

I test drove GS300 AWD today evening. My dealer had a big party. The car felt very quick and quiet. I didn't like the instrument lighting. The second generation GS instrument lighting was much better. Otherwise the interior looks very nice. They should have provided heated seats for rear seats.Still the dealers don't have nice brochures. They are expecting 10 vehicles in couple of days.
