Default New GS 430 Owner

After debating between the GS 300 AWD and the Acura RL for the past few weeks, I decided to go ahead and get the Lexus, primarily because of the exterior styling. Both cars had plenty of power and performance for my needs. I decided to go with the GS 300 when I found out that, due to a cancellation, I could take delivery May 2nd. (I had previously been told 6-8 weeks for the AWD w/ Nav System). So I put my order in on a Matordore Red Mica/Black Leather AWD, even though I wasn't crazy about the black leather/Red Walnut combo (just my opinion, of course). Then I made my big mistake. I took my wife in to "approve the colors". 2 minutes on the lot and she points to a 430 with Blue Onyx Pearl/Cashmere combo and says "Why can't we just buy that one today, and I really like the wheels (18"Tourmalines) on the one next to it". Well, I really didn't want to disappoint her, so I "reluctantly" agreed. Now I am really hoping that everything I read on this forum about the VDIM system handling so well in the snow is true, because here's what I ended up with:

GS 430
Blue Onyx Pearl/Cashmere (the colors I wanted all along)
18" Machined Tourmaline Wheels
Nav/ML Sound System, etc.

Thanks for all the great info on this site (even though the decision actually came down to my wife's whim about the color). Oh well, at least I'll FEEL like I'm in control when I'm driving.

As I mentioned, in one of my posted threads, this is my father's car and he's still glad to have gotten the GS over the M45. It currently has about 1,000 miles and still running great and probably will for the next ten years, hopefully.

Been lurking for awhile...finally decided to join in. Knew the 3rd Gen would be great, so I pre-ordered in Dec '04 and received my GS in early March. Replaces my 2nd Gen GS3. This is a really well-made car. Approaches LS legendary overall quality fit & finish. I guess I'm spoiled but just what I expected from Lexus.

1. 430
2. Blue Onyx Pearl
3. Cashmere
4. Run Flats (18s, 5 spokes, spare)
5. Nav/ML
6. Fully Loaded except Park assist, PCS & laser cruise (not part of package in my area)

Went by my dealer the other day and it had sold everything (GSs) off the lot except demos.

Well boys and girls...add me to the list... :

Finally decided with the new GS over the ACURA RL. I'm a lexus owner again.

1) 2006 GS
2) AWD
3) MATADOR RED (What did you expect)
4) CASHMERE w/ MAPLE ACCENTS
5) NAV w/ rear back up camera
6) Mark Levinson Audio Package
7) Spoiler
8) Rear Shade
9) Rain Sensing Wipers
10) AFS-HID
11) Paid about 52k.

Put in my order today....could be a 6 to 8 week wait with the AWD, NAV, MATADOR RED combo will make my baby rare. I wonder if she's even built yet?

Oh well...she will be born soon....

Shimmers has a GS 430 in Seoul, Korea. Picked it over a Benz CLS!

I am going to also state if members are international in the rollcall and if they chose the GS over a specific car (s), to help prospective buyers ask them the reasons why/why not.

AZBuyer, GS 430
AlexK, U.K, GS 300 SE-L
osx-addict, GS 300 AWD
winsalem, GS 300

Just got delivery of my GS430 here in Seoul, Korea. This was a tough decision since my other choice was the Benz CLS350. In the end, I thought the GS had better features, quality, performance, and overall value. By the way, this is my first Lexus and I hope high expectations.

- GS430
- Color: Black exterior with Black/Red Maple interior, 20% Llumar tint
- Wheels: Stock 18" 5 spoke chrome/aluminum rims with Yokohama ADVAN tires
- Options: Fully loaded (they only come that way in Korea) except the NAV (not available in Korean language yet)
- Cost: KRW 4,000,000 off MSRP (about US$3,950)

Can't wait until the break-in period (2,000km) is over so I can really start driving.

Some questions for GS owners:
- Is valet mode available for the glove compartment? I noticed that you can lock it with the detachable key, but I don't see any valet keys.
- Anyone notice that the rear wheel wells are covered in fabric unlike the front which is plastic like most other cars. I haven't driven enough to notice yet, but wouldn't that get dirty easily?

The electronic key with the detachable key removed is what you would give the valet.
