2007 GS350 AWD with 128k miles, just did a load of maintenance ( oil, filters, brake flush, trans drain/refill, brakes, plugs, water pump) Car is super clean and loaded (love the Levinson system) hoping she'll last me a long time. I tinted the windows, tail lights, LED fogs, parking lights, and reverse lights, plastidipped wheels a gunmetal until I can save up for new ones. First Lexus and looking forward to being part of the community!

looks clean fella! Good luck with all the future mods. Is the shark fin standard or an add on?

Thank you!! From my understanding shark fin was made standard in 07'. Love the blacked out look on yours with front chrome, was thinking of doing that as well but on silver might look a bit off. I see your from England, how cool. I have distant family in Manchester, hope to visit someday.
Cheers

I am a first time Lexus owner. Truthfully, I knew very little of the IS 350 when I fist happened upon it at a local tow yard. That said, it was "calling" me.
It sat where the flatbed dumped it, in knee high grass - with old front end damage - as in obviously long ago - not fresh damage - its right front headlight lens was broken and its bumper cover cracked from a light impact.
Its front grill / Lexus L emblem - sprayed flat black ( we all know that makes it faster ; )
. . . and naturally its windows are wearing the mandatory Limo Rice Boy tint.
In the deep grass right rear tire looked flat, and only after I acquired it did I learn the rim was broken after impacting a curb or pothole at a speed that devastated the OEM rim lip. Scrap yard had another for $200. It's mounted up and its able to roll again.
The motor has 160K, and the body appears mostly dent free and "okay" for its paint condition. Interior is FULL of fast food crap and wrappers that indicate a skanky too cool to be a Mom but have to feed these dam kids type was its daily driver. The pizza delivery equipment in the trunk tell me her significant other does run food for tips probably in an Urban area. Both explain the unrepaired front end damage. The lights still work so WTF just drive it, right?
I know the tower, and often drop by to see what was hooked of interest. When I walked over to the IS350, I hopped in and immediately liked what I saw. I called the owner over and told him - try this out - it's a keeper. He is an old school Camaro racer type of a geriatric fellow, who saw entry and exit of the lowered Lexus about one step removed from dancing under a Limbo stick while stone sober . . .he took a pass and offered it to me. IF the "owner" abandons it, shocking how often this happens at a police tow yard - and IF the title company can advertise, auction and through proper owner inaction - fetch for a set $500 FEE, the title over from Pennsylvania to N.J. - well my good luck in life to have first dibs.
Fast forward about a year, and guess what. Twice the young Mom who initially met the local police and learned a registration is not a one time fee...twice she came to the Tow Yard, requested the total due - and walked away. The process played itself out - and here I am holding a N.J. MVS Title declaring me the 10th owner of this poor abandoned IS! I am looking at it as a "Rescue". My Pitt is a "rescue" - as was my son's Pitt - BOTH extraordinary examples of why rescuing the dogs beats buying them. I hold out hope that same holds true for this black 2008 IS 350.
I sold my 1995 Impala SS 6 speed converted "fun" car. I acquired a 1985 Honda CRX that is doing duty as the "fun" car. BUT- it's a suspected "death trap" by my significant other who greatly prefers me to wrap myself in airbags especially when exercising the right to test the limits of my "fun" cars : )
So, this Rescue Project is born.
So far, I haven't accomplished much past insuring her, and replacing the busted right rear rim. The ROCK AUTO exploration revealed the front end is pretty cheap to fix, and YouTube confirmed about 50 nuts and bolts have to be found and convinced to give up grip so the broken stuff can become cheap Chinese Rock Auto replacement parts.
1st problem is #4 cylinder is not firing - due to a rodent nest found top dead center of the motor and I suspect the foam, insulation bedding is also comprised of the tin wire that once lead to the coil pack !
I will update as progress is made on this Rescue Mission !
Very grateful to find this fourmn - as in the past the Chevrolet and Honda support groups really saved my bacon .

Shark fin is standard. I got my 2008 about 10 months ago. I finally got around to having the trannie work done (purely preventative...nothing wrong). Welcome to the group. Lots of friendly people here and a good place to get advice.

My 08 GS
Hi
I'm Mac and new to this forum.
I traded my 07 Dodge Charger RT Road and Track for it this afternoon, I loved the Charger but SWMBO hated it, She loves the Lexus and so do I so far.

Just bought a red 2007 GS350 AWD on the weekend, I wasn't really looking for one (I was CL hunting for Lexus parts for my 2GS GS400) but the price was something I couldn't pass up. Its definitely in need of some TLC cosmetically and needs new discs and pads, front inner CV boots, tires, drivers seat back leather replacement (anyone bought from Ebay the replacement leather seat covering? like this), front bumper cover, a front parking sensor....that I know of so far..
Cheers,
Julian

I lost my 98 2GS4 with 328k due to a not at fault accident and picked up a black sapphire pearl 08 GSh.
You sound like we did the exact same thing. Small world!
