[QUOTE=flipside909].......Lexus' interior acoustics and sound deadening are well engineered that an artificial noise cancellation system would be almost pointless.........QUOTE]
The big value in active sound management, aside from being quieter, is to reduce the weight of sound insulation. As all member in CL have mentioned many times "weight is the enemy"

The TL and RL sound systems are stellar, both top 10 steroes. Edmunds in their review picked the ML over the RL Bose.
Lexus are known to have some of the quietest rides on the road. Isn't the LS 430 the quietest car or considered on of THE quietest? Kudos to Acura for putting that sound cancellation system in the RL but reviews have not mentioned its the quiestest car they ever tested. The Lexus stereos have ASL too right? The volume goes up as the car detects more wind noise?

Also, from what I read, the RL's sound cancelation processors and sensors are limited to the range of common road noise. They have not yet effectively been able to cancel wind noise, NVH type noises, etc, etc... just the 'droning' sound you get from your tires. So while it's nowhere near completely effective, it's still a very cool technology with a lot of potential. I think I read that Acura saved something like 40 pounds in sound deadening due to this. Think if they had kept that 40 pounds and still used the tech... maybe then people would notice a more drastic difference?
ASL does not (to my knowledge) detect wind noise. It simply increases the volume from a base point and then increase it dynamically based on RPM and speed.

Don't forget, you might have the best sound cancelling system out there, but if you don't line the cabin with excellent insulating materials, you'll still get road vibrations too.

So after all these years hopefully we can get a definitive input, we know the LS 430 is the quietest. But I would like a definitive answer between the 2gs, the 3gs. Is there much of a difference?
