MP3's in the GS
Just for everyone's information, you can play MP3's in the GS. All you need to do is use Ulead Burn. Now software (on a PC) and choose to make a DVD-Audio Disk. It requires that you have a DVD burner in your computer (only about $100). You can burn up to 99 songs on one DVD-R (or DVD+R) disk. It works perfectly in my new GS430. Let me know if anyone has questions about how to do this.

What people were hoping to do was put the actual MP3 encoded files on discs for the car system to decode. But it cannot as it has no MP3 decoder in it. But I'll be making my discs the way you did--CDs compiled to DVDs. That's almost 600 tracks in the 6-disc changer, or 40 hours of music.

Another possible solution
There is another possible solution. There are programs (look at www.audio-dvd-creator.com as one example) that can let you convert your MP3s to AC3 (at 192 Kbps). This can put as much as 45 hrs. of music on a single sided DVD-/+R, and double that on a double sided disc. The problem is how to navigate between songs. One can use 99 chapter marks to move quickly between albums, but you may need to FF between songs in a given albums. I have not tried it yet, but the lack of an MP3 decoder with a corresponding nice user interface to choose is a significant Lexus oversight, and is very likely to be corrected in future versions (as is implied on the new IS)
