Why is AWD an option on the 300 and not the 430?

GS450h will be a RWD only

I assumed that the Hybrid version of the GS would get the AWD like the RX400h. It really shocked me when we were told in January that it was strictly a RWD high performance sedan. I think we will see an AWD LS??? eventually. We will have to get by with the GS300 AWD, IS250 AWD and the RX400h for now. With the advent of VDIM the AWD drive just isn't as necessary anymore in the V8 or the GS450h IMO.

About a year and a half ago I went to a Lexus sponsored SUV event. Just about every major SUV mfg's vehichles were there to drive along with the Lexus models on challenging off-road courses. It was amazing. The GX was unstoppable. The only other vehicle that did as good off road was the Land Rover - and in the Land Rover models you felt like you were in a truck. The Navigator/Aviator and Escalade had special "remedial" courses because they were getting stuck all day long.
