Finally got a short look at the new GS
I took a few minutes with a friend to shoot over to the MASSIVE remodelled Hennessy Atlanta Lexus dealership a) to see the place and b) to see the new GS. There were several out front, mostly GS300's but at least one silver GS430 with grey 18s on it I think. Only took a quick look at the 430 because 2 people were in it (presumably a customer with a salesperson) but the wheel gap didn't look as bad as pictures I'd seen would lead me to believe and the car overall didn't look as huge and bloated as the pictures made it look (to me at least).
OK, I'll eat crow, I liked it!
The GS300s with smaller rims, didn't look as good (was it only the rims that were different externally!?).
Only looked through the window at the interior, but to me it looked a bit too 'plain'. Some would say clean but to me it looked a bit boring.
But I still don't see one in my future. Not saying it's a bad car but I'm so spoiled by the tight handling and quick response of my modified 2nd gen GS and I'm just not up for going through all the modding again partly because I have a suspicion it may turn out to be a LOT tougher to mod this GS than my one because of the TON of electronics and existing widgets on board. I'm also not interested in the 3.0 V6 or the current 4.3. For the pile of money this car costs, it needs to provide more.
I've driven a 545i and it's an ugly user-unfriendly car, but the handling and response IS impressive, and I expect it will still outperform the new GS overall.
I could actually see me in the rumored new IS350 because it's likely to be a lot of fun with a more luxurious interior than the current one and a bit more comfy (roomy) without getting as big as the GS. It's just VERY difficult to get great handling and performance from a big car which is why I'm thinking smaller.

They're identical. Other than the L badge on the grille having a clear acrylic/plastic shield on it (that's for the Radar Cruise) and the obvious sensors for PA/PCS.
