Finally got it done. I couldn't find a convinient place to cut into the pink wire, so I ended up taking out part of the center console and wiring into the (pink) wire at the forward cigarette lighter. Then it was just a matter of running the radar detector power wire down the a pillar behind the driver kick panel.
It's a Valentine 1 detector, and has already paid for itself keeping me out of trouble.

ok...i'm in need of installing my V1 as well. How easy is it to access the overhead console? I'm sure i can stuff the power module inside the recess up there somewhere.

I didn't want to mess with the overhead console, so I ran the power wire across the headliner, down the driver's side A pillar, and put the power adapter behind the kick panel. I ran the power from the cigarette lighter in the front of the center console. I probably could have found a power wire somewhere in the kick panel, but I didn't want to spend the time looking...

did mine today. I actually plugged into an IG-ON slot in the fuse box grounded to the chassis and ran the cord up along the door molding and along the headliner. Now i'm looking for a way to put the remote display so that it's not flashing for others to see.
Here's something that i want to replicate but there's no suitable spot on the dash...
Here are pics from my previous R32 and Audi A4

Could anyone point me to a good location to ground my V1? Finding a good fuse to tap for power is easy, but I am not sure where to attach the ground wire. Please help.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sent you a PM back but for others...i used a bolt that holds the lower dash trim to the dash support structure. Put the grounding wire in between and bolted it down...no problems.

guys,
i'm a fairly new member to this forum and owner of a gs300 for about a month now, so please excuse the references to my 98 4runner, but i think it may provide some ideas/value to some of you.
i usually go to the wiring database at www.the12volt.com to find wire colors. i've used this site successfully to hardwire many accessories including my V1, my commando 870 alarm, a cobra cb, and hardwiring in an additional cig outlet in my 4runner. here's some writeups to give you an idea of what i've done:
12V Accessory Hardwired device(s)
http://www.4runners.org/articles/valentine
12V Constant devices
http://www.4runners.org/articles/12v
http://www.4runners.org/articles/cobra
http://www.4runners.org/articles/dist
I'm not sure if this is street style, but many of us in the offroading world use aux fuse boxes to simplify adding 12v devices
Hope that helps,
Bob

Did you guys need to take off the A-pillar or headliners to conceal the wire or did you just stuff it in there? If you had to remove them, how would I go about doing that? I just got my V1 and I'd like to hardwire it.

negative...i used a flat piece of metal and used some heat shrink tubing on the end to keep it from marring or scratching anything...pushed it into the gap and you're done
