Stuff happens. Just know unlike most companies, Lexus won't blame you and they will stand behind the product. And 2GS had TSBs too. Hell all cars do. Its just Lexus has the least amount, not a zero amount.

Mine's a 430, that wouldn't have made a difference.

Yes, for a first model year, hell for any car, I have had zero problems with the GS (now on it's way to 5k) with the exception of this dome light issue.

Lexus owners take many things for granted over time because we're used to a different level of quality. But to those who have been Lexus only customers for sometime (myself) we would be the worst BMW or MB customers having a lot to complain about.

Default We had a GS300 with the same problem

and it took a few weeks to get the part from Japan. The fixture needed a redesign probably. The new replacements haven't been a problem so I hope it's fixed. These are teething type issues and I remember similar adjustments on the 2nd Generation when it came out. Can I get the TSB number on that? It would really be helpful. Most times dealers are unable to look at the problem and quickly know it's something Lexus acknowledges and here's the part/way to fix it.

Default Found the TSB Number for the rear dome light

Most dealers will locate it easily if you bring it in to service, but for those dealers you're not too certain of, it's best to give them this TSB FIRST. Before they get glue all over your headliner.

Here you go..

There is a Lexus technical service bulletin for this. Ask your dealer.

looknow12, thanks for posting the TSB. Although I haven't had a problem with my GS's rear dome light, it's good to know Lexus has addressed it. Actually, I'm very surprised my light has fallen off. My GS is early production, and my daughter presses the light buttons all the time.

I just called my service advisor, told him my problem, gave him the TSB number. He said he would get it ordered and the dome light assembly would probably be in the first of next week. He also ordered me a couple of key fob gloves. Is this good service or what?

Thanks looknow, for the TSB information!
