I was just reading the book entitled "Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit" and if you all rembember, the Q45 and LS400 were launched around the same time. The Infiniti was roomier and more powerful, but due to terrible marketing/advertisements it failed to generate the sales numbers of Lexus. Infiniti is definitely headed in the right direction with its cars, but what about their marketing? I remember seeing one T.V. commercial about 3 weeks ago (they do seem to be putting quite a bit of ads in the major car mags though). As for the GS, I see a commercial for it every other time I turn on the television in addition to a simple print ad in most of the auto mags. Infiniti has a good product on it's hands, but I somehow feel they still haven't generated enough exposure to get the car in the hearts and minds of the average consumer, which is odd because Infiniti bragged about how much it was spending on marketing the new M35/45. Maybe a good chunk of that money was allocated for paying off car reviewers?
(Before the brigade from FreshAlloy comes in here to flame me, I WAS KIDDING!)

Here are GS sales figures. Guess what, in 1998, when it debuted, 9,926 GS 400s were sold. So why not talk about that? Infinti would cream its pants if it had sold that many M45s. Maybe they will this year, lets hope so.

See more facts and evidence, try using it sometime.

Seems when the M45 came out at a price LESS than the 1998 GS 400, it only sold 4,700 or so models in 2003 (its debut) and then only 2090 in 2004. I guess those 6-8k rebates off M45 MSRP didn't help that much
Facts, try using them

Jump off a cliff?? That isn't very nice.. anyway... My point remains... that the sales numbers for both the GS430 and the M45 were similar in 2003 and 2004. Lexus sells TONS of GS300's, but not many 430's. That trend will not only continue with new GS300, but also with the new M35. The fact of the matter is, Infiniti did not off an M35 in 2003 and 2004. Who knows how well it would have sold if they had? It's all speculation.. but facts are facts: sales between the 2003 and 2004 M45 were close to the sales of the 2003 and 2004 GS430.

Isn't the GS 430 supposed to be the 'halo' car with sales accounting for a small fraction of the total GS class sales figure? GS 300 sales need to be considered. And, the fact that the GS 2nd gen has been around for so long without an update is a factor in recent sales.

i was on mercedes website and they are saying that the 2005, not 06 GS430 as a competitor to the E55AMG, thought it was incorrect, but wow! go ahead GS, even though it fall a tad short of a E55 (incredible car)

"We'll just have to wait and see who will be the sales king."
We already know this. Lexus is producing about 33,000 GS per year, and Infiniti is producing about 24,000 M per year. Those numbers seem pretty realistic to me.
There's no doubt in my mind Lexus will still outsell Infiniti as a whole."
Well, we all know that there is 0 percent chance that Infiniti will outsell Lexus any time in the forseeable future.
