I already knew that but thanks for checking
As ive said it burned quicker, got some pinging and defeated the purpose of gas so i upped using 91 and it solved my issue, plus the Toyota techs advanced the timing each time i changed the timing belt (3 times).

These are sport sedans...granted not high performance but I just don't understand why you would want to lessen the performance any...it does make a difference...the good thing is that DI helps cool the combustion chamber so it helps reduces the chance for damage...

maybe I'll try it one day. But for now I have many other major fix. Like the exhaust line is getting rusted through. Lots of rust down there.

Lead Lap
My parents have an '03 Tundra that also says to use 87 on the gas door, which it will run on, but not nearly as well as 92. Pretty sure it's all a gimmick to help sell the vehicle to those who are more concerned with the MPG. Dad tried 87 in it once, and it ran like crap compared to 92... However, it still ran

Where do you live that you have 98 Octane?
The highest I can buy here in GA is 93.

Your answer can be found here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
Australia: "regular" unleaded fuel is 91 RON, "premium" unleaded with 95 RON is widely available, and 98 RON fuel is also reasonably common.
Bottom line RON vs AKI when measuring octane.

I Notice on my car that with Costco premium it runs better than with sams premium. Maybe it's psychological but now I only use costco. I believe costco has more additives but that should have no effect on performance short term only long term in that it keeps the engine cleaner

oh, BTW about disconnecting and reconnecting battery. If you know about electronic/electricity. That initial spark is not good for electronic. It recommend to always leave the battery connect to buffer that spark.

Premium Vs Regular
So I was strollin through the forum and I have a pretty simple question .......... I think
I have always used premium in my 06 Gs300, I have heard mixed answers on here about using premium only. Some say premium only some say can use regular with no harm.....I was under the impression that it was premium only.......Anybody know the answer, or at least know the effects of long term usage. MPG, Performance anything......TYIA

I know for one, you won't get the sulfur "rotten egg" smell with premium fuel. Reduce performance is another. On a vehicle that has direct injection only, premium tends to reduce (not eliminate) the amount of carbon build on the back side of the valves since it burns a little more "complete" than regular fuel.
I wouldn't advise using regular fuel unless you really have to.
