A little FYI I once managed a couple of Shell stations years ago and the Department of Agriculture came in and did all the testing and including the octane levels and tells me that Shell gasoline and most top-tier gasolines octane ratings are a little bit higher than the minimum posted like your 87 or 89 and 92 are minimum ratings but top-tier gas like shell and Chevron sit at about 2 to 3 octane points higher than the minimum posted for example 87 as an 89 then 89 is a 91 and 92 octane is 95 .
