Any 3GS 430 owner race a new TL and whoop it?
The reason I ask, I was browsing another forum and a new TL(acura) owner posted a thread "Got my *** handed to me by a GS430". He confirmed it was a new 06 GS 430. Here is the initial post(the guy is in NY)
So I was driving in to work and I have a nice 45 minute commute and a nice road to drive down on. For those of you who know the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut, its a nice fun twisty type road.
I saw a Lexus GS merge on behind me. I quickly glanced ahead of me and then to my right and to my surprise he was already next to me. He gave me a nod and then took off. At this point, I didn't know it was the V8 version. His car was silver and I couldn't make out the numbers on the back of his trunk. Now I was already doing 80 on this parkway. He took off from 80 and must have hit 120 in a matter of like 3-4 seconds. And so for alittle fun, I took off after him. We come up on a cluster of cars and we slowly navigate through them. As soon as we get through we take off again. MY GOD THAT THING IS FAST. Now at this point, I know its a GS430 with the V8. I'm speeding up from about 70 and just reaching 120 where he is about a good 6 car lengths ahead of me. It looked so effortless for him. He would then slow down cause we came up on another cluster of cars. And then as soon as we clear them, take off again. He did this to me 5 times.
We then came up on my exit and I slowed down to exit. He waved and gave me the blinkers and took off. He wasn't a jerk about it so it was cool. I have been humbled by that Lexus.
I'm thinking honda needs to wake up and make some V8's. They can say to themselves all they want that a V6 will do fine but I saw first hand what a Japanese V8 can do.
The link will not be posted but there was nothing to argue about.. Clearly the 430 even with just "300hp" can more than hold its own. The TL is a very swift car btw, it has been since the Type-S version.

I know that highway all too well. It's one of the few highways in CT with no shoulder on either side, and I don't recommend racing or speeding on that highway. Speed limit throughout that highway is 55. I guess it's a good thing no cops were there at the time with the TL and GS

HAHAH...I read that too. I however know that the TL was gonna lose that one. I've driven bothe the 5A and 6M, and both dont have a thing on the GS(and the last GS I drove was a 2003 Model a few months back)Granted those TL's can keep up and beat some of the best of them(G35 also), they are no match for V8 power period. Now I would like to see this new 430 go up against some more comparable V8 cars and see whats up. I will always give the GS430 props. It might not have the highest HP rating on paper, but they can clearly hang with V8's that have some 30-40hp more.

My cousin got a new TL like 4 months back (the reason my gs is for sale now we kinda have a competion) hes car wasnt that fast. I think he has the base one with 280 hp and my gs modded with lighter susp. brakes exhaust and intake barely lost to him from a dead stop. He has a auto. He might have have put half a car on me up to 80. My next GS will be a v8 so I can hand him his a$$ too LOL.

A few years ago C&D compared an 2001 LS430 with 290 hp and Q45 with 345 hp. The LS won.
The guy on 3GS knows the sweet spot of the 3GS. He's down shift to 4th @ 70-80mph and step on it. By the time the GS get to 100 mph then he up shift to 5th. You guys with 2GS know about the 3th gear at 70mph...

dont forget the torque - GS430 has a lot of torque, and its torque curve is very flat from down below, that is the biggest difference... No V6 can compete with that, no matter what 0-60 says.

the 6mt is pretty fast though, i think it should be a pretty close race
but regardless, the v8 in the gs is a beast, at high way speed the tl is no match... the tq of the v8 will just pull
from a dead stop it's a much closer race

All I can say is that my 2 gen is quicker and I have no doubt that if I lined up with one, the driver of the 3rdgen 430 will be looking at my rear bumper all the way. Of course I'm sure the 3.76lsd has a lot to do with that. If I were still stock I'd guess it would be a different story.
