Default Another "anyone know what this is?"

I noticed there's a foam piece sewn on to the right side of the driver seat, next to the center console (actually wedged between the driver's seat and the center console). This piece is not on the passenger side, just the driver side. What exactly is this piece? Is it to prevent droping something down into this tight space? If it is, someone at Lexus did their homework. I've dropped keys, coins, pens, etc. in this area with my previous cars and it's a hassle getting it out!

I think that's exactly what it's for.

That's exactly what it's for as well as to supress sound when you sit on the seat, leather tends to touch the center console and cause little squeaks/squeals as you drive around from normal road vibration. Great but one of those simple ideas of "Why didn't I think of that?"

It's on the front seats of my girl friend's 2002 LS as well. I first saw these things in her boss's 97 MB S class.

It's a feature that was first introduced in the LS 430 I didn't know the GS had it too...

These were in the S-Class back in '97?? I can't believe that didn't trickle down to the '00 E-Class I traded in to get the GS. So I guess Lexus isn't original with this little feature afterall. Well I'm glad this is in the 3GS nonetheless.
