My new GS 430 is experiencing significant paint chipping of the wheels. One wheel is chipped down to the base metal near the tire bead,. The other has a 8" long chip on the spoke. The dealer thinks his car washer machine did the damage. Also, the scapre looks like a screwdiver was pulled on the wheel, removing the paint down to the base metal.
Anyway, these new wheels have what appears to be several coats of paint (graphite-sliver color) vice a polished base metal like previous wheels I have owned, and you can fick off the paint with a fingernail.
Is this a issue with others, or do I have a set of defective wheels. Are others also painted or is the dealer lying, and trying to get by with repair vice replace?

Theres has been an issue of the finish flaking off do to the base matal being porous. The paint covers the holes but doesnt go inside causing bubble like bumps in the paint that flake when toughed. Take some pics of the damage. If that is the case they will replace your wheels under warrenty.

Hmmm to bad honest it doesnt look like a defect. It looks like an abrasion. Maybe you hit something driving? If the dealer is willing to replace them then thats a plus to you.

Sorry but this wheel has been "Curbed". Any Lexus Dealer will notice it in an instant. Porosity will show up as a flake of metal that is missing with NO accompanying skid marks.
