I know what you guys mean, but I would describe it as more of a "lumpiness" when decelerating in drive. Like it's cycling through the ratios, it's hard to define, but it's just not smooth. If you shift into neutral as you roll to a stop, you will find that the sensation disappears altogether and your stops are liquid smooth, as they should be. I asked my mechanic to test for it but naturally he had no idea what I was talking about. Everyone who has serviced this car for me is convinced I am insane.

You are absolutely right about putting the car in neutral to slow down , but how long can I drive in this manner ?

You probably should never do this, I imagine it is bad for the transmission. Especially if you can't come to a full stop, like if the light changes to green before you get to the intersection and you have to put it back in drive while still rolling. Might this blow the seals? Who knows, but it was not intended to operate this way.

I try not to do it anymore but I get obsessive about the sensation and I forget and slip it into neutral now and then. Maybe I should write Lexus Corporate. They love me.

Hi I was wondering if anyone has come to a solution from this problem i too am getting a kick at low speeds coming to a stop i do use the neutral trick but both is annoying to shift or not...I've been getting check vsc on n off without this shift problem until yesterday i drove a few weeks without it coming on n bam it came on n it was the worst it ever drove....lmk if there was a solution b4 i rebuild the trans....thx!!!

After a while you'll react to the down and upshifts naturally,, with braking technique. I find myself braking in rhythm with downshifts whereas I don't feel it any longer I guess I've had the car too long!
