Spare tire for the GS300 AWD
Does anyone know what size wheel and tire will fit in the spare tire well on the '06 GS300 AWD? Since it came with run-flats, it has no spare. When the time come for a new set of tires I plan to replace the run-flats (too noisy) with standard tires. Then I will need a spare.

I thought some AWD's came with a donut spare but it wasn't an option at my dealer, all of the AWD's came with run-flats and no spare. Must be a regional thing. When I buy my next set of tires I plan to buy a plain 17" wheel, buy an extra tire put it on the wheel and mount it in the wheel well if it will fit.

Yeah, my 430 didn't come with a spare either.. no option for anything.. I guess also since it has larger brakes not any'ol donut will fit.. When I take the factory rims off I'm gonna get the TT spare. But I wish Lexus would've given me the option to have regular all season's instead of what we have.. The ride on run flats are rougher than regular tires and also they do not handle as well in the turns. Hey, maybe Steve at Carson can do something for us for the TT spare.. I know not everyone will need that extra clearance for the front calipers but who knows maybe in the future you guys with the 300's might want the 430 brakes...

Actually, I would definetly reccomend getting "real" tires... I was reading GS300/A63.2/530i/C350 comparison in Autobild GS brakes were awesome in that test - only C350's were slightly better.
I bet that GS300 had non-runflat tires.
p.s. another thing to note is that a lot of European cars have inflating kits from factory instead of runflats or sparetire, so it has to be safe (New Golf, Pasat, all new BMW's, etc).,...

My GS300 AWD has Dunlop run flats. The salesperson added the donut spare at no charge per my request and the car was delivered as such. The well for the tire looks only large enough to accomodate a donut, not a full size spare.

The well in mine is approximately 27" diameter. That's about the same size as the 17" wheel w/ tire, would be a tight squeeze. But the depth of the well is only 6" in the shallowest part. The tire is about 9" so I guess I'll have to settle for a donut size.
Anyone know a good place to buy a donut spare? I hate to pay the high mark up a dealer would charge but will if I have to.
